Patent number: 6692245Abstract: An apparatus for forming a frame including a rigid thermoplastic portion and a resilient portion defining a lip seal. In particular, a core/cavity mold assembly is provided, wherein the rigid thermoplastic portion is formed, by opening the mold assembly while maintaining the rigid thermoplastic portion in the core, placing the core in line with a second cavity configured and sized to form the lip seal and molding the lip seal directly onto the rigid thermoplastic portion. The mold cavity is provided with movable internal and external stripper rings that allow the resilient portion to be removed from the cavity.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1999Date of Patent: February 17, 2004Assignee: IPL Inc.Inventors: Michel Lanoue, Jean-Francois Lavoie, Randall Leach, Gary Meyers

Publication number: 20030164318Abstract: A crate for carrying glass panels comprises a longitudinal body frame consisting of a base, opposite side panels and opposite end panels and including supports extending vertically from the base for holding glass panels in the longitudinal direction of the frame. The supports are pivotally mounted to move between a vertical position to receive and hold the glass panels and a horizontal position in which the supports lie over the base once the glass panels have been removed. The side panels are inwardly foldable to rest over the supports once in their horizontal position. The end panels each include an upper end section inwardly foldable to rest over the side panels when folded over the supports and a fixed lower end section which is constructed to contact the end panels of superposed and underposed similarly constructed crates thereby allowing such crates to be vertically stacked when the glass supports, side panels and upper end sections of the end panels are in their folded position.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 22, 2001Publication date: September 4, 2003Applicant: IPL Inc.Inventors: Gaston Lacasse, Philippe Cusson

Patent number: 6041931Abstract: A lidded container for lobsters or like crustacean comprises a container formed of plastics material having sidewalls, endwalls and a bottom wall and a lid formed of plastics material which is adapted to be hingedly secured to the container sidewalls to move between an open position and a close position. The lid has a top wall formed of a series of upwardly projecting ribs defining wells to receive and retain therein ice which, when melted, passes through perforations in the bottom faces of the wells to circulate about the lobsters. The water then exits through apertures in the sidewalls, endwalls and bottom wall of the container.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1999Date of Patent: March 28, 2000Assignee: IPL Inc.Inventor: Michel Jacques

Patent number: 5853099Abstract: A five-piece open container comprises a bottom piece formed of plastics material and four side pieces also formed of plastics material and pivotally mounted to the bottom piece so that the side pieces may be pivotally moved between an erected position and a non-erected position. In the upper corner of each piece are provided parts which are integral with the side pieces and which enable the side pieces to be maintained in an erected inter-engagement. One of the integral parts ensures a securing arrangement when the side pieces are in the erected position, but it may be manually flexed outwardly from inside the container to enable the disengagement of the side pieces from one another so that they may be moved into a non-erected position.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1997Date of Patent: December 29, 1998Assignee: IPL Inc.Inventor: Claude Lessard

Patent number: 5746342Abstract: A five-piece container for items, such as bottles, comprises a bottom piece, a pair of side pieces of identical height and a pair of end pieces also of identical height; each side edge and each end edge of the bottom piece display a series of planar surfaces interspaced with a series of recessed areas in which is defined a hinge that engagedly receives a C-shaped extension formed at the lower edge of each side piece and of each end piece so that the side and end pieces may be mounted to the bottom piece through a snap engagement. The end pieces and the side pieces can be moved between an outward foldback position and an erected position; however, an inward folded position cannot be effected due to the configuration of the lower edge of the side pieces and of the end pieces and that of the edges of the bottom piece. The folding configuration is useful for containers that have walls higher than the width of the bottom thus preventing the walls from being folded inside.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1997Date of Patent: May 5, 1998Assignee: IPL, Inc.Inventors: Michel Jacques, Roch Nolet

Patent number: 5747731Abstract: A device for use with one or more similarly constructed devices for spacing a utility wire from a supporting cable. The device has a top portion defining a U-shaped configuration including of opposite sides and of a bottom wall adapted to receive thereon the utility wire. The bottom portion has opposite side walls and a bottom wall adapted to receive thereagainst the supporting cable. The opposite sides of the top portion are spaced from another a distance so as to allow nesting therein of the bottom portion of a superposed similarly constructed device. A series of these devices may be nested together so that the spacing of the utility wire from its supporting cable may be varied in accordance with particular requirements.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1997Date of Patent: May 5, 1998Assignee: IPL, Inc.Inventor: Gaston LaCasse

Patent number: 5515987Abstract: A five-piece plastic container for carrying items, such as fruits and vegetables, comprises a bottom piece and four side pieces; each side edge of the bottom piece includes a series of horizontally spaced recessed areas and a horizontally extending integrally formed hinge traversing the recessed area. Each lower edge of the side pieces includes a series of horizontally spaced extensions defining a C-shaped profile which is adapted to be received within a corresponding one of the recessed areas for the assembly of the side pieces to the bottom piece. The profile is configured to enable a snap engagement and disengagement with and from the hinges, allowing the side pieces to be moved between an outward foldback position, an erected position and an inwardly folded position. The disclosure also describes a seven-piece container.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1995Date of Patent: May 14, 1996Assignee: IPL Inc.Inventors: Michel Jacques, Roch Nolet

Patent number: 5411160Abstract: A child resistant closure has a lid and a container. In the upper area of the container, a resilient area is provided to allow a manual depression so as to distance this upper area of the container from the lower edge of the lid thus allowing a manual gripping of the lower edge of the lid. Removal of the lid is therefore effected through two successive operations in directions substantially perpendicular to one another, one being a depression of the resilient area substantially perpendicular to the axis of the body, the other being a lifting of the lid substantially parallel to this axis.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1993Date of Patent: May 2, 1995Assignee: IPL, Inc.Inventors: Jean-Francois Goulet, Sylvain Labrie, Dominique Lesquir

Patent number: 5372257Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a stackable tray which is formed of a body of rigid plastic material with a bottom wall integrally formed with opposite side walls and front and rear walls; each side wall is provided with an upper edge flange which is engageable in a recessed area defined in the lower edge of a superposed similarly constructed tray. The location of the recessed area with respect to the upper edge flange is such as to force outwardly the side walls during stacking engagement thus causing internal stresses in the bottom wall which counteract the sagging which occurs when loads are supported on the bottom wall.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1994Date of Patent: December 13, 1994Assignee: IPL Inc.Inventors: Maurice Beauchamp, Michel Lanoue
