Patent number: 8628831Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of selective metallization, and in particular to preparing a polymer article for selective metallization by submerging the article in a first liquid, and while submerged irradiate the article by a laser beam the area of the article on which the metal is to be deposited. An activation step, prior to the selective metallization, comprises submerging the article in an activation liquid for depositing seed particles in the selected area. The irradiation of the selected area is proportionate so as to cause a temporary melting of the polymer in the surface of the selected area of the polymer article. The invention is advantageous in that the preparation may be performed with a relatively high scan rate across the polymer article, and in that a quite limited use of toxic chemicals.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2008Date of Patent: January 14, 2014Assignees: Danmarks Tekniskie Universitet, IPUInventors: Peter Torben Tang, Jakob Skov Nielsen, Peter Caroe Nielsen, Hans Nørgaard Hansen, Yang Zhang

Publication number: 20080140052Abstract: An article to be inserted in a human or animal body cavity, use of the article and preparation thereof. The article has a biologically inhibiting arrangement of electrically connected electrode materials in direct contact with each other on one or more surfaces of the article The arrangement includes as electrode materials a metallic anode material and a cathode material, where the potential of the cathode material is higher than the potential of the anode material, The cathode material is an electrically conductive material selected among certain non-metallic materials. The arrangement provided on the article releases biological inhibiting ions of the metallic anode material or complexes of such ions when the biologically inhibiting arrangement is contacted with a body fluid.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2006Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: IPU, Instituttet for ProduktudviklingInventors: Per Moller, Anette Alsted Rasmussen

Patent number: 5607521Abstract: A method and a treatment solution for posttreatment of an article with a metallic surface, where the metallic surface is made of one or more metals of a standard oxidation potential within the range -2.5 to +0.5 V. A thin coating is formed on the metallic surface by a treatment with an aqueous solution containing a molybdenum compound selected among molybdic acid and salts thereof in a concentration of 2.9 to 9.8 g/l calculated as molybdenum, as well as a compound capable of forming a heteropolymolydate, such as phosphoric acid, together with a molybdate. The treatment is performed under conditions where the metal surface is maintained at a potential within the range of -600 and -1800 mV/nhe. A corrosion-protecting and/or decorative effect is obtained which can be compared with the effect obtained by conventional chromate treatment, and which avoids the environmental and toxicologic drawbacks associated with the chromate treatment.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1994Date of Patent: March 4, 1997Assignee: IPU Instituttet for ProduktudviklingInventors: Gregers Bech-Nielsen, Peter T. Patent number: 5423549Abstract: The invention relates to a device with a signal receiving unit for locating golf balls. Each golf ball is associated with a transmitting unit and the signals emitted by each transmitting unit are detected by the signal receiving unit. The transmitting unit is associated with an energy store as an operating voltage source. The device includes a charging circuit with an energy transmitter for wireless transmission of the electrical energy to an energy receiver connected in front of the energy store. Immediately after the charging phase of the energy store, the transmitting unit starts sending transmission signals and in so doing discharges the energy store. The transmitted signals received by the signal receiving unit are fed to an evaluation circuit which produces an output signal for locating the golf ball. This output signal is then fed to a display unit. After a certain discharge time, the transmitting unit stops transmitting the transmission signals.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1992Date of Patent: June 13, 1995Assignee: IPU Int.
