Abstract: A long-extension pop-up sprinkler for subsurface installation and irrigation of overlying plantings. A wiper seal or ring at the top of the sprinkler body strips sand and dirt from a riser which retracts when inlet water is turned off, and this seal is water flushed during both extension and retraction of the riser. An internal moving seal at the bottom of the riser isolates the wiper ring from line-pressure water, and enables flushing of the ring during both riser extension and retraction by water trapped within the sprinkler body.
Abstract: A dual-function valve assembly for an irrigation system typically having a plurality of sprinkler heads disposed at different elevations downstream from a control valve. A spring-loaded check valve prevents drainage of the sprinkler lines through the lower heads when the control valve is closed. A second valve in the assembly closes to prevent excessive flow if a sprinkler head is damaged or removed. The valve assembly is especially useful in unattended, automatically actuated irrigation systems.
Abstract: A diaphragm-type irrigation valve having a molded plastic body, and including a metal valve-seat ring with sidewalls embedded in the plastic body. The seat ring has a generally U-shaped cross-section, at least one ring sidewall being non-parallel to a central axis of the ring. An O-ring seal is positioned within the ring to bear against the plastic material in which the sidewalls are embedded.
