  • Patent number: 10076988
Abstract: Present embodiments provide an automated system for laying pipe which includes various clearing functions in order to clear impingements and jams of pipe being fed to a conveyor or other structure while dispensing the pipe from the trailer. Some embodiments include uprights which are adjustable to increase the carrying capacity of piping. Other embodiments provide adjustable members which raise and lower to aid in clearing the pipe. Other embodiments provide a gate or arm which may be actuated to push or hold pipes back allowing one pipe to feed at a time. Still further, a transition cradle may be utilized to hold pipes back and actuate a single pipe. These features allow for clearing of various types of jams in the feed process so that a single pipe may be cleanly actuated to a conveyor for feeding from the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9625056
Abstract: An automated vehicle system for laying pipe includes a vehicle (e.g., a stringing trailer) with a bed for storing a plurality of pipes. Tilted gravity members extend across the bed of the vehicle to feed the pipes toward a chute with conveyor running toward the rear of the vehicle. A gate arm and rocker arm mechanism ensure that pipes are fed one at a time onto the conveyor to lay a series of pipes on the ground. Optionally, a joining trailer can be connected behind the vehicle for joining the pipes together before the pipe is placed on the ground.

  • Patent number: 8973616
Abstract: A pipe, such as a liner for repairing a failing culvert, comprises a continuous wall defining an inner wall surface and an exterior wall surface. The pipe further defines a central fluid passageway extending from an inlet end to an outlet end. The inner wall surface of the pipe defines a waveform-like geometry near the inlet end, said waveform-like geometry including an initial curvature beginning at the inlet end of the pipe and continuing until reaching a predetermined location where an inner diameter of the pipe is minimized, the curvature then continuing with the inner diameter increasing again to a second predetermined location, before the inner diameter again decreases to a third predetermined location and then remains substantially constant along the remaining length of the pipe, thus creating an annular recess in the inner wall surface of the pipe.
