Abstract: A mixture of a cobalt compound and a lithium compound is calcined at a temperature of 250.degree. C. to 1,000.degree. C., where said cobalt compound has a cobalt content of 68.5.+-.6% by weight, its composition is substantially represented by a formula H.sub.x CoO.sub.y provided that 0.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.1.4 and 1.3.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.2.2, the half value width of a diffraction peak showing a maximum intensity in the neighborhood of 2.theta.=36-40 degrees in X-ray diffraction using CuK.alpha. as a radiation source is greater than 0.31 degrees, and the relation between the cobalt content and the half value width is represented by the following formula:Half value width (degrees).gtoreq.7.5-0.1.times.(Cobalt content) (% by weight). This provides an inexpensive and simple process for producing a lithium-cobalt composite oxide having uniform crystals, and a high-performance electrode active material for use in lithium secondary cells in high capacity and excellent in the charging-discharging cycle characteristics.

Abstract: Flowing an ozone-containing gas through one passage which is either the space between an outer tube and an inner tube disposed in the outer tube or the space in the inner tube, and flowing an aqueous liquid through the passage, which the ozone-containing gas is not flowing through, provides aqueous ozone solutions of high concentration and purity provided that the inner tube possesses a number of pores with an average diameter of 2 to 4 microns.
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for the quantitative continuous feeding of iodine by inputting iodine into a hopper under sealed conditions, connecting the lower part of the hopper with a reactor under sealed conditions, having a valve to open and close the passage and installing a quantitative meter to determine the quantity of iodine and feed a constant quantity of iodine to the reactor.
Abstract: A method of producing globulous products of a subliming substance, which includes the steps of melting the subliming substance, discharging the subliming substance through a nozzle so as to form a plurality of droplets of 0.3 to 5 mm diameter, discharging a non-soluble inert coolant liquid having a boiling point lower than the subliming substance and atomized to a size of 10 to 2500.mu. so as to contact and cool the droplets, and forming the globulous products so as to have a diameter of 0.3 to 5 mm.
Abstract: A process for dyeing fibers using a water-insoluble dye such as a sulfur dye comprises reductive dissolution and oxidative fixing using an oxyhalogen acid as oxidizing agent.
