    Abstract: A system for magnetic abrasive finishing of a workpiece may include a magnetic abrasive brush that may include a plurality of magnetic/abrasive particles and an electromagnet configured to apply a magnetic field on the plurality of magnetic abrasive particles. The system may further include a first actuating mechanism that may be configured to actuate a rotational movement of the workpiece about a longitudinal axis of the workpiece, a second actuating mechanism that may be configured to actuate a linear movement of the magnetic abrasive brush along a first direction relative to the workpiece, the first direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the workpiece, a sensor coupled to the magnetic abrasive brush that may be configured to measure a working gap between the magnetic abrasive brush and an outer surface of the workpiece at any given instant.

    Abstract: A method for fabricating a double layer cup-shaped part may include shaping a first material into a hollow cylinder, mounting the hollow cylinder on a draw punch, where the draw punch may include an upper punch portion with a first diameter and a lower punch portion with a second smaller diameter. Mounting the hollow cylinder on the draw punch may include tightly fitting the hollow cylinder around the lower punch portion. The method may further include forming the double layer cup-shaped part by drawing a blank material through a draw die by placing the blank material over an upper opening of the draw die, and pressing the draw punch over the blank material. The first material may form an inner layer of the double layer cup-shaped part and the blank material may form an outer cup-shaped layer of the double layer cup-shaped part.

    Abstract: A multilayer metal-matrix composite that includes a metal core sheet and a plurality of side sheets is disclosed in which the metal core sheet is reinforced with a reinforcement material selected from the group consisting of ceramic reinforcements. A method of fabricating a multilayer metal-matrix composite with reinforced particles and a coating using a combination of electroless coating method and accumulative roll bonding method is further described in this disclosure with the aim of reducing the number of required accumulative roll bonding cycles to obtain improved or desired properties.
