  • Patent number: 7164884
Abstract: A wireless interface module interfaces a machine control system, such as a vending machine controller, with one of plural wireless networks through one of plural removably coupled wireless transceivers. Communication between geographically distributed vending machines and a desired wireless network is supported by coupling a transceiver associated with the desired network to the wireless interface module. This advantageously provides flexibility in selecting from one of plural wireless networks for a distributed vending machine so that communication between the control system and a distal operating center is supported over a preferred wireless network through a standardized wireless interface module incorporated in the vending machine by changing the wireless transceiver removably coupled to the wireless interface module.

  • Patent number: 7139616
Abstract: An apparatus and system are disclosed for real-time monitoring and control of field assets. A monitoring device may be coupled to a field asset to determine the occurrence of one or more error conditions. Error conditions may be detected either as they occur or by testing the field asset at timed intervals. Upon detection of one or more error conditions, the monitoring device may initiate one or more corrective sequences to resolve the error condition. Alternatively, the monitoring device may notify a network operations center of the detected error condition. Users may access the network operations center via an Internet-enabled remote device. From the Internet-enabled remote device, the user may view status information concerning one or more field assets. The user may also use the Internet-enabled remote device to instruct the network operations center to issue commands to be executed by the monitoring device such that the error conditions on the field asset may be corrected.

  • Patent number: 7020680
Abstract: A remote data acquisition and transmission system and method are disclosed. A plurality of application controllers are interfaced with remote beverage dispensing equipment from which operation data is acquired by the application controllers. The application controllers communicate with an application host via a local area network, and the application host can communicate with a network operations center using a wide area network interface.

  • Patent number: 7013337
Abstract: A method and system for communicating data between a network operations center and a remote device is described. Vending machine state information is communicated between a vending site and a network operations center using a delta scheme. A database, maintained by the network operations center, maintains a history of the activity of a variety of vending machines located at a variety of vending sites. To minimize the data needed to be transmitted between the vending site and the network operations center, the network operations center, in one embodiment, will request information from the vending site regarding the change in state of the various vending machines. The vending machines are responsible for restructuring a data block, calculating a delta for the change in state of the machine, applying a compression algorithm to the calculated delta and then transmitting the delta to the network operations center.

  • Patent number: 7010594
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and apparatus for the remote monitoring and control of a computing component. An intelligent management and control transceiver (IMCT) is preferably attached to a computing component to be monitored and controlled. The IMCT preferably operates independently of the computing component being monitored and controlled by maintaining its own processing power, memory, power supply and communications capabilities. Software executing on the IMCT enables various functional and environmental characteristics of the computing component to be monitored and controlled. A wireless transceiver is preferably included to allow the IMCT to generate an alert in response to the occurrence of a monitored event as well as to enable the remote management of the computing component.

  • Patent number: 6925335
Abstract: An apparatus and system are disclosed for the real-time monitoring and control of field assets. The monitoring device, operable to couple to a field asset, may be designed to leverage one or more technologies included in the field asset or as a stand-alone unit and is preferably operable to detect one or more error conditions thereon. The error conditions may be detected either as they occur or during testing intervals. Once an error condition is detected, the monitoring device may initiate one or more corrective sequences to resolve the error condition or, alternatively, the monitoring device may notify a network operations center via a wireless network. Accessing a network operations center from an Internet-enabled remote device, a user may view status information for one or more field assets, issue commands to correct error conditions as well as perform other functions.
