Abstract: A GPS-aided inertial navigation method includes providing multiple sensors including multiple inertial measurement units (IMUs) and at least one global positioning system receivers and antennas (GPSs) and computer with embedded navigation software. The computer interfaces with all IMUs and all GPS receivers; running, in parallel, in multiple standard inertial navigation (IN) schemes; computes the mean of all the INSs to obtain a fused IN solution for the IMUs' mean location; computes the mean of all the GPS solutions to obtain a fused GPS solution for the GPS antennas' mean location; applies a lever-arm correction, with the vector from the mean IMU location to the ‘mean antenna’ location, to the fused GPS solution; feeds the fused IN solution and the lever-arm corrected fused GPS solution to a single navigation filter, as if there were a single IMU and a single GPS; and runs an IMU/IN/GPS correction module.

  • Patent number: 9212872
Abstract: A system for evaluating aircraft/watercraft/battle-vehicle survivability equipment comprising: (1) a Static Pyrotechnic Unit (SPTU) and a support stand; (2) a system of Short Range Simulating Rocket (SRSR) and a rocket launching apparatus; and (3) a control system that activates said Static Pyrotechnic Unit in (1) and said system SRSR in (2). When the Static pyrotechnic Unit is ignited, the resulting flash has an IR wavelength and multi spectral emission, intensity and time duration that simulate the initial flash created by a shoulder missile. When the Short Range Simulating Rocket is fired, the resulting radiation has an IR wavelength and multi spectral emission, intensity and time duration that simulates the radiation trail emitted from a fired shoulder missile. The flash created by the Static pyrotechnic Unit, and the trail emission of the Short Range Simulating Rocket are detected by the target survivability detection equipment, enabling the target to take protective measures.

  • Patent number: 8499543
Abstract: An insensitive munitions casing, such as a motor case, for housing a propellant charge is disclosed. The casing is formed by winding, wrapping or rolling a fiber, tape or sheet of material such that the casing has a plurality of reinforcing layers. At least some of the reinforcing layers have discontinuous interfaces. Other reinforcing layers may overlap the discontinuous interfaces. The reinforcing layers are coated with adhesive bonding material for adhering the reinforcing layer to itself and bonding the discontinuous interfaces. The adhesive bonding material has a bond-strength breakdown temperature which is below the auto-ignition temperature of the propellant charge. Once the bond strength breakdown temperature of the adhesive is reached, the bond fails at the discontinuous interface, thereby enabling release of propellant charge pressurization.
