Abstract: A system for generating haptic effects includes a virtual environment having environmental properties, virtual objects, and object property information. A programmatic virtual sensor is placed on a virtual object in the virtual environment. A rendering engine for the virtual environment renders the virtual environment. A module for the virtual sensor receives virtual sensor data including position and time for the sensor and calculates sensor output data including acceleration data and object interaction data for the virtual sensor. A haptic track generator generates a haptic track based on the sensor output data.

Abstract: This electrostatic protection circuit makes it possible for a discharge operation to be started only in the case where a rise in an applied voltage is steep, and for static electricity to be sufficiently released. This electrostatic protection circuit includes a discharge circuit that is connected between a first node and a second node and discharges charge produced by static electricity, a latch circuit that is connected between the first node and the second node and outputs a signal that controls operation of the discharge circuit to the discharge circuit, a switch circuit that is connected to the latch circuit and changes the signal that controls operation of the discharge circuit, and a control circuit that is connected between the first node and the second node and outputs a signal that controls operation of the switch circuit to the switch circuit.

Abstract: At least one application is received from a user. The at least one application is stored on a communication platform. A catalog is received. The catalog includes at least one service. Each service of the at least one service is associated with a platform. An indication of a selection, from the user, is received. The selection comprises a first service associated with a first platform, and a second service associated with a second platform. The first service stores the at least one application from the user. The second service runs the at least one application from the user. Responsive to receiving the indication, the at least one application is deployed to the indicated first platform. Additionally, responsive to receiving the indication, a service bridge from the communication platform to the second platform is deployed. The at least one application is run, on the first platform utilizing the service bridge.

Abstract: A mobile terminal with a built-in voice message searching function includes: a voice recording module configured to record a voice searching signal from a user and to send the voice searching signal to the pre-processing module for pre-processing, a pre-processing module configured to pre-process the voice searching signal, and to send the pre-processed signal to the matching module for signal matching, a matching module configured to extract a characteristic parameter of the pre-processed signal, to calculate a similarity of the extracted characteristic parameter with a characteristic parameter of a stored voice message, and to send the voice message with a similarity higher than or equal to a threshold to the result outputting module, and a result outputting module configured to display the voice message with the similarity higher than or equal to the threshold on a screen of the mobile terminal.

Abstract: Various embodiments are directed enabling anti-malware software to co-exist with protective features of an operating system. An apparatus may include a processor component including an IDT register storing an indication of size of an IDT; a monitoring component to retrieve the indication and compare the indication to a size of a guard IDT in response to modification of the IDT register to determine whether the guard routine is to inspect the IDT and a set of ISRs; and a cache component to overwrite the IDT and set of ISRs with a cached IDT and cached set of ISRs, respectively, based on the determination and prior to the inspection to prevent the guard routine from detecting a modification by an anti-malware routine, the cached IDT and cached set of ISRs generated from the IDT and set of ISRs, respectively, prior to the modification. Abstract: Purified Chlamydia major outer membrane protein (MOMP) has been observed to induce protection against genital and respiratory challenge in mice. MOMP contains variable domains that are highly immunogenic and elicit cross-serovar neutralizing monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies and T cell responses in animal and human models. Examples herein provide a method for vaccinating a subject against Chlamydia using a composition that is a recombinant Neisseria porin that contains at least one antigenic variable domain of Chlamydia. The variable domains are inserted into the amino acid sequence of the Neisseria porin at a position encoding a surface-exposed loop of the Neisseria porin. The vaccine further contains an adjuvant that induces a Th1 response greater than a Th2 response.

Abstract: Various aspects of a device and a method for rendering multimedia content are disclosed herein. The method determines a ratio between a first resolution of multimedia content and a second resolution of a display screen of a display device. At least one user input is received that selects a region of interest (ROI) on the multimedia content being rendered on the display screen. Based on the determined ratio, the selected ROI on the multimedia content being rendered on the display screen is dynamically modified based on the determined ratio.

Abstract: A projection lens has a lens barrel holding a lens. In a case where an image forming panel is disposed to be shifted with respect to an optical axis of the projection lens, in a second part on a side to which the image forming panel is shifted with respect to the optical axis of the projection lens, there is a great increase in temperature, and in a first part on the opposite side, there is a small increase in temperature. A lens barrel heating optical section has a first mirror, condensing lenses, and a second mirror. The lens barrel heating optical section emits the redundant light, which is reflected by the color wheel, toward the first part of the lens barrel. By heating the first part through redundant light, temperature distribution in the circumferential direction becomes uniform, and deterioration in performance of the projected image is suppressed.

Abstract: Methods and arrangements involving portable user devices such smartphones and wearable electronic devices are disclosed, as well as other devices and sensors distributed within an ambient environment. Some arrangements enable a user to perform an object recognition process in a computationally- and time-efficient manner. Other arrangements enable users and other entities to, either individually or cooperatively, register or enroll physical objects into one or more object registries on which an object recognition process can be performed. Still other arrangements enable users and other entities to, either individually or cooperatively, associate registered or enrolled objects with one or more items of metadata. Abstract: An image display apparatus comprising a display section provided by pixels arranged in a grid pattern, each of the pixels being formed of a light-emitting element, in which basic grids are repeatedly arranged in a grid pattern, each of the basic grids consisting of four pixels of a 2 by 2 matrix, each of the basic grids having a pattern in which one or two pixels of the four pixels being assigned a three-in-one element including three primary colors of R, G, and B and the remaining pixels being assigned a single-color light-emitting element, and the apparatus comprises processor for correcting a first color reproduction range provided by chromaticities of the three primary colors of R, G, and B to a second color reproduction range by light-emission intensity of the single-color light-emitting element and shifting chromaticity points for the three colors.

Abstract: A communication information detecting device includes: a receiving unit that receives an address resolution request message transmitted from a start-point communication device through L2 broadcast and having an IP address of a target communication device set therein as a target address for L2 address resolution; a generating unit that generates an address resolution request message having the IPv6 address of the target communication device, which is set in the received address resolution request message, set therein as a target address for L2 address resolution; a follow-up processing unit that transmits this address resolution request message through L2 broadcast; a receiving unit that receives an address resolution reply message returned from the target communication device in response to the address resolution request message; and a detecting unit that extracts an L2 address and an IP address concerning the target communication device from the address resolution reply message.

Abstract: A multi-tier platform provides security at a perimeter of a computer system, where an intermediate layer interacts between a web layer and an application layer. A data request that is associated with a data set is received at the web layer and passed to the intermediate layer. The intermediate layer determines the authoritative source for the data set and whether the data set has a static or dynamic value. If the value is static, the intermediate layer accesses the value stored at the intermediate layer. However, if the value is dynamic, the intermediate layer queries the source registered to the data set, obtains the value from the authoritative source, and returns the dynamic value via the web layer, where the registered source may be internal or external to the computer system. Consequently, the intermediate layer may function as an aggregate layer that supports both database and messaging services.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a central control unit and a waveguide device. The waveguide device includes a communication module having a communication function, and an attachment/detachment unit capable of attaching/detaching a high-frequency signal waveguide so that coupling between the module and the high-frequency signal is possible. The communication module includes a communication device, and a transfer structure configured to cause a high-frequency signal emitted from the communication device to be coupled to the high-frequency signal waveguide.

Abstract: The problem of providing a technology that converts a Brassica rapa plant having self-incompatibility to having self-compatibility is addressed. The problem is solved by causing a pollen factor (SP11) to be inactive at a self-incompatibility gene locus for a Brassica rapa plant, while maintaining the inverted repeat sequence (SMI) on a class I dominant S haplotype.

Abstract: A connector link for use in an actuation system for a butterfly valve has a central web extending between two generally cylindrical ends. There are bores formed in each of two generally cylindrical ends and bushings extend axially upwardly from a nominal face at each of the ends. One of the ends has a bore formed at a radius defined as a first distance. A distance between center points of the bores in the first and second ends is defined as a second distance. The ratio of the second distance to the first distance is greater than or equal to 19.2772 and less than or equal to 19.4125. A valve and method are also disclosed.

Abstract: In a search server, a page collection unit collects Internet pages. An index generation unit generates an index of the pages. An index-tree generation unit generates an index tree representing the connection relationship among the pages in a tree structure, and in which a page linked from multiple pages is represented by different nodes in a duplicated manner. When a search word input unit inputs a search word in a client, a search-result generation unit of the search server generates a search result on the basis of the index. For the index tree, a search-result-tree generation unit, for example, highlights nodes containing the search word, and deletes nodes, each of which does not contain the search word and is not a branch point into multiple branches which contain the search word. The search-result-tree generation unit outputs the resulting search result to a search result display unit of the client.
