Abstract: Technique for providing power to a powered device (PD) over a cable having first and second sets of twisted pairs, such as signal pairs and spare pairs. Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) circuitry is coupled via a first switch to the second set, e.g. to the spare pairs. A switch control circuit turns the first switch off to enable the PSE circuitry to perform a prescribed operation in connection with the PD over only the first set, e.g. over the signal pairs, and turns the first switch on to enable the PSE circuitry to perform the prescribed operation in connection with the PD over the first and second sets.

Abstract: A mobile communications device with a wireless module and a controller module is provided. The wireless module performs wireless transmissions and receptions to and from a first service network being an LTE system. The controller module receives, from the first service network, a handover request message for handing over from the first service network to a second service network via the wireless module, and determines whether all configurations in the handover request message are compliable or whether there is a protocol error in the handover request message. Particularly, the second service network utilizes a wireless technology other than the LTE technology, and the handover request message is a MobilityFromEUTRACommand message. Also, the controller module transmits a connection re-establishment request message indicating a reconfiguration failure to the first service network via the wireless module, in response to one of the determinations is positive.

Abstract: An impact resistant door skin, a door including the same, and a method of manufacturing an impact resistant door skin from a pre-formed door skin are provided. The method includes the steps of providing at least one preformed door skin and applying adhesive to a rear side of the at least one preformed door skin. A fiberglass mesh mat is pressed onto the rear side of the at least one preformed door skin. Then, chopped glass fibers coated with adhesive are sprayed onto the rear side of the at least one preformed door skin using a chopper gun to form a layer of chopped glass fibers on the fiberglass mesh mat. The performed door skin may be a molded door skin having at least one recessed panel formed therein.

Abstract: A drive system includes a drive belt, an engine, a motor, and a supercharger for delivering compressed air to an intake of the engine, and a controller for setting the operational mode of the drive system. The engine and motor are selectively engageable with the drive belt, and the supercharger is selectively engageable with the motor. A method of controlling an operational mode of such a drive system includes detecting a throttle position. Thereafter, the method includes selectively engaging the engine with the drive belt or the drive belt with the motor or the motor with the supercharger, based at least in part on the throttle position.

Abstract: Guiding pattern portions are formed on a surface of a lithographic material stack that is disposed on a surface of a semiconductor substrate. A copolymer layer is then formed between each neighboring pair of guiding pattern portions and thereafter a directed self-assembly process is performed that causes phase separation of the various polymeric domains of the copolymer layer. Each guiding pattern portion is selectively removed, followed by the removal of each first phase separated polymeric domain. Each second phase separated polymeric domain remains and is used as an etch mask in forming semiconductor fins in an upper semiconductor material portion of the semiconductor substrate.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and processor-readable media for remotely providing a device status alert. In an example embodiment, data indicative of the status of one or more devices can be subject to an HMM (Hidden Markov Model) and a dynamic programming algorithm to determine the latent state of the device (or devices). A status alert model can be trained based on such data and can be expanded with respect to a wide range of devices including utilizing semi-supervised learning. The alert status model can then be integrated into a device management application that provides a status alert regarding one or more of such devices based on the status alert model.

Abstract: To obtain an air-conditioning apparatus that does not make a refrigerant circulate up to an indoor unit and further can achieve energy-saving. A refrigeration cycle is configured by connecting a compressor that pressurizes a refrigerant, a four-way valve that switches a circulation path of the refrigerant, a heat source side heat exchanger that performs heat exchange, expansion valves for pressure-adjusting the refrigerant, and a plurality of intermediate heat exchangers that performs heat exchange between the refrigerant and the heat medium to heat and cool the heat medium, with piping. A heat medium circuit is configured by connecting intermediate heat exchangers, pumps that pressurize the heat medium, and a plurality of use side heat exchangers that perform heat exchange between the heat medium and the air in the indoor space, with piping.

Abstract: Apparatus, method, computer program product, and system described for an autonomous vehicle (a drone) which uses one or more hosts to transport that drone on its journey. Potential hosts along the envisioned journey can be rated as to their suitability. That rating along with an indication of the value of traveling under its own power or remaining stationary for a particular time can be evaluated at any point along the journey to produce an effective route, time, cost, or whatever other factor is desirable. The drone can chose between these states and communicate with potential hosts and even stationary positions or it can remain in the mode it was just in. The drone can switch between one host and another, be charged by a host or at a stationary location, and can evaluate the different modes differently depending on the needs of the user and the drone itself.

Abstract: A root user identifier of a computing system is disabled. Thereafter, and in response to determining that a problem with the computing system requires root privileges to the computing system to solve, a code patch for installation on the computing system is received from a third party. The code patch is installed on the computing system, resulting in a user identifier temporarily having the root privileges to the computing system. The user identifier is different than the root user identifier is. A password for the user identifier is provided to the third party to permit the third party to solve the problem with the computing system using the root privileges, via the user identifier temporarily having the root privileges to the computing system. The code patch is computer code installable on the computing system.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for embedding information in software and/or other electronic content such that the information is difficult for an unauthorized party to detect, remove, insert, forge, and/or corrupt. The embedded information can be used to protect electronic content by identifying the content's source, thus enabling unauthorized copies or derivatives to be reliably traced, and thus facilitating effective legal recourse by the content owner. Systems and methods are also disclosed for protecting, detecting, removing, and decoding information embedded in electronic content, and for using the embedded information to protect software or other media from unauthorized analysis, attack, and/or modification.

Abstract: A bag clip comprises a pair of opposing jaws configured for resilient movement between an open position in which the jaws are apart from one another and a closed position in which the jaws are adjacent one another. An indicator wheel attached to the clip includes indicators that may correspond to dates on which the bag was opened and the clip was attached. A second indicator wheel may be included, in which the first wheel may correspond to months of the year and the second wheel may correspond to days of the month.

Abstract: In accordance with some embodiments, multi-sampling may be used together with texture filtering and particularly texture filtering that generally uses rectangular grids of samples. This is accomplished by performing the texture filtering before doing the resolve, while conventionally the resolve is done and then the texture filtering is done. In addition, each sample is filtered as if it were the only sample.

Abstract: Disclosed is a bio resin composition, a bio molded article, and a method of manufacturing the same. The bio resin composition is environmentally friendly and provides at least a predetermined level of physical properties, such as hardness, strength, and the like, by including a bio polyethylene resin, a thermoplastic olefin resin, a polypropylene resin, and an inorganic filter and by further including a thermoplastic rubber. The present composition reduces the generation of volatile organic compounds, and may increase the diversity of its use through injection molding.

Abstract: Various systems and methods are described for gathering events and analyzing the events and nodes associated with the events. Various arrangements may include receiving events from one or more applications. An event may include two nodes and an action. These events may be stored and processed to determine relations between nodes. These relations may then be processed to determine the similarity between nodes. Further, the nodes may be ranked according to the importance of the nodes as compared with each other.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a given tile, made up of pixels or samples, may be of any shape, including a square shape. These pixels may contain colors, depths, stencil values, and other values. Each tile may be further augmented with a single bit, referred to herein as a render bit. In one embodiment, if the render bit is one, then everything is rendered as usual within the tile. However, if the render bit is zero, then nothing is rasterized to this tile and, correspondingly, depth tests, pixel shading, frame buffer accesses, and multi-sampled anti-aliasing (MSAA) resolves are not done for this tile. In other embodiments, some operations may be done nevertheless, but at least one operation is avoided based on the render bit. Of course, the render bits may be switched such that the bit zero indicates that everything should be rendered and the bit one indicates more limited rendering.

Abstract: A display panel comprising a substrate, a plurality of gate lines, source lines, semiconductor layers and light shielding layers is provided. The gate lines are disposed on the substrate in parallel. The source lines are disposed on the substrate in parallel. The gate lines and the source lines are intercrossed to define a plurality of pixel areas. The semiconductor layers are disposed on the corresponding pixel areas, and each semiconductor layer includes at least one channel region overlapping each gate line. The slight shielding layers are located between the channel regions and the substrate. In a normal direction of the substrate, one of the gate lines is overlapped by two of the light shielding layers, and one of the light shielding layers overlaps even number of the source lines.

Abstract: Embodiments of an optically transparent antenna are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the optically transparent antenna may comprise a plurality of electrically-isolated conductive patches arranged on a non-conductive surface. A combination of a size of the conductive patches and a spacing between the conductive patches is less than a human visual acuity for a predetermined viewing distance so that the patches are not be visible or perceptible to a human. In some embodiments, optically transparent antenna may serve as one or more antennas on a mobile platform.

Abstract: Systems and methods for discovery and classification of denial of service attacks in a distributed computing system may employ local agents on nodes thereof to detect resource-related events. An information later agent may determine if events indicate attacks, perform clustering analysis to determine if they represent known or unknown attack patterns, classify the attacks, and initiate appropriate responses to prevent and/or mitigate the attack, including sending warnings and/or modifying resource pool(s). The information layer agent may consult a knowledge base comprising information associated with known attack patterns, including state-action mappings. An attack tree model and an overlay network (over which detection and/or response messages may be sent) may be constructed for the distributed system. They may be dynamically modified in response to changes in system configuration, state, and/or workload.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention relate to a low-cost network system that can reduce the network cost by connecting a base station controller (BSC) with a base transceiver station (BTS) by the use of matching units that match an E1/T1 line to an IP line. In one embodiment, the system comprises a BSC matching unit (BSCMU) and a BTS matching unit (BTSMU). The BSCMU, connected to the BSC through a first dedicated line, converts a first dedicated-line data signal, received from the BSC, into a first IP signal to be transmitted through an IP line and converts a received second IP signal into a second dedicated-line data signal to be transmitted to the BSC. The BTSMU, connected to the BTS through a second dedicated line, converts the first IP signal into the first dedicated-line data signal to be transmitted to the BTS and converts the second dedicated-line data signal, received from the BTS, into the second IP signal.
