Abstract: Some embodiments include methods of forming gated devices. An upper region of a semiconductor material is patterned into a plurality of walls that extend primarily along a first direction. The walls are spaced from one another by trenches that extend primarily along the first direction. Steps are formed along bottoms of the trenches. Gatelines are formed on the steps and along lower regions of the walls. After the gatelines are formed, the walls are patterned into spaced-apart pillars that have bottom regions below the gatelines. In some embodiments the gated devices may be transistors or thyristors.

Abstract: Aspects of the present invention provide a device, method and system which utilize hardware-based granular evaluation of industrial control protocol packets to withstand traffic storms. In an embodiment, packet evaluation circuitry coupled to a port may be adapted to evaluate one or more protocol fields contained in each inbound packet before switching circuitry can send the inbound packet to the proper destination. The inbound packet may be sent by the switching circuitry if it is a particular message, or may be selectively inhibited from being sent by the switching circuitry if the inbound packet does not contain the particular message for being sent and if the total number of bytes of the inbound packet type exceeds a threshold for the outbound port during a given period of time. As such, critical industrial applications may continue to operate in the presence of a traffic storm.

Abstract: Methods for sensing, method for programming, memory devices, and memory systems are disclosed. In one such method for sensing, a counting circuit generates a count output and a translated count output. The count output is converted into a time varying voltage that biases a word line coupled to memory cells being sensed. Target data for each memory cell is stored in a data cache associated with that particular memory cell. When it is detected that a memory cell has turned on, the translated count output associated with the count output that is indicative of the voltage level that turned on the memory cell is compared to the target data. The comparison determines the state of the memory cell.

Abstract: A human-readable cable specification for a model converged infrastructure (CI) is converted to a machine-readable cable specification specifying model port mappings between model components of the model CI. The machine-readable cable specification is imported into a controller, which is in communication with an actual CI that includes operating components and actual connections between input/output (I/O) signal ports of the components. Port configurations are collected from the operating components, and actual port mappings are generated that identify the connections between the actual ports. The actual port mappings are compared against the model port mappings. A compliance report is generated indicating port mapping mismatches, if any, between the model and actual port mappings based on the comparing.

Abstract: An improved composition and method for cleaning a surface of a semiconductor wafer are provided. The composition can be used to selectively remove a low-k dielectric material such as silicon dioxide, a photoresist layer overlying a low-k dielectric layer, or both layers from the surface of the wafer. The composition is formulated according to the invention to provide a desired removal rate of the low-k dielectric and/or photoresist from the surface of the wafer. By varying a fluorine ion component, and the amounts of the fluorine ion component and an acid component, and controlling the pH, a composition can be formulated in order to achieve a desired low-k dielectric removal rate that ranges from slow and controlled at about 50 to about 1000 angstroms per minute, to a relatively rapid removal of low-k dielectric material at greater than about 1000 angstroms per minute.

  • Publication number: 20140105269
Abstract: A system and method for filtering an analog signal with a finite impulse response (FIR) filter that does not require analog delay elements are disclosed. An analog signal is pulse-width encoded, and the pulse-width encoded signal passed to a delay line comprising unclocked delay elements, such as logic gates, rather than clocked delay elements such as are used in conventional FIR filters. The propagation of the input signal is thus due only to the delay inherent in each gate, and occurs based upon when a signal reaches the gate rather than being caused by a clock signal. As with a conventional FIR filter, weighting elements having impedance are used to weigh the output of each delay element, and the resulting outputs summed to obtain a filtered output signal. For certain signals, such a circuit and method provides a simpler way of filtering than conventional filters.
