  • Patent number: 6164891
Abstract: A device for feeding and distributing loose material to rotary platforms, particularly for rotary-hearth furnaces, includes a material feed device, a material transfer device and a material gravity-pour duct. The device further includes a static device for the differentiated distribution of the material. The distribution front of the gravity-pour duct has an essentially curvilinear profile, the derivative of this curve being an increasing linear function of the radius of the rotary platform in the portion lying between the center of the platform and its perimeter.

  • Patent number: 6116071
Abstract: The invention relates to a rolling mill for sizing tubes or cylindrical bodies such as bars, rods and so on, and is intended for the iron and steel industry. The rolling mill is made up of a multiplicity of fixed three-roll rolling units, i.e. of the type known per se in which the position of the rolls cannot be adjusted under load and they are kinematically connected to each other so as to be set in rotation simultaneously, downstream of which are a multiplicity of adjustable three-roll rolling units. In the latter units the position of the rolls can be adjusted even under load and the purpose of these is to carry out the finishing of the work that is to be sized. The invention enables excellent use to be made of the characteristics of strength of the fixed units and of accurate working of the adjustable units, with the result that it is possible to build an inexpensive but high-performance rolling mill.

  • Patent number: 6041635
Abstract: A rolling mill for rolling pipes on a mandrel (40) is formed by an alignment of rolling units according to the invention, each rolling unit comprises an outer annular structure (2) formed by at least two plate-shaped elements (3) connected rigidly to one another and housing a roll carrier (10) on which the rolling units (27,28,29), supported by respective pivoting lever arms (19,20,21), are disposed. Each roll carrier (10) can be removed transversely from its rolling unit which, for this purpose, is provided with guides (15) in addition to a loading-unloading device (50) on which the removed carrier is placed. The outer annular structure (2) enables the rolling unit and the corresponding rolling mill better to withstand the radial stresses produced during working, the replacement of the rolls of the respective carriers (10) at the same time being simplified by virtue of their lateral movement.

  • Patent number: 5899688
Abstract: A rotary furnace for the treatment of minerals, includes an annular chamber provided with a material feeder apparatus and discharge apparatus for the material, disposed adjacent one another in a certain sector of the chamber. A plurality of burners are arranged all along the annular chamber on the side walls and on the top wall thereof. The furnace further includes a conduit for extracting the discharge gases. The gases from a first zone of the chamber downstream of the feeder means and upstream of the gas extraction means, with respect to the direction of rotation of said hearth, are transferred into a second zone upstream of the material discharge means and downstream of the gas extraction means through forced conveying of the gases by suction at the first zone and by pressure delivery at the second zone. A flow regulator is used to regulate the forced conveying.

  • Patent number: 5899689
Abstract: Furnace for processes and treatments in a sub-stoichiometric atmosphere, includes a combustion chamber (1) provided with a fuel-feeding mechanism, feeding mechanism (3) for combustion promoter and an extraction mechanism (4) for the gases produced in the interior of the chamber (1). The feeding mechanism (3) for combustion promoter and the extraction mechanism (4) for the gases are connected, in an alternating way with suitable selection mechanisms (203, 213, 104, 114), to the furnace through at least one device (2) connected by a suitable mechanism (402) to an open port (121) on the combustion chamber (1) of the furnace. The device achieves post-combustion (102) of the gases, heat exchange and heat storage (112).

  • Patent number: 5448040
Abstract: A roller for furnaces, is used with a plurality of rollers substantially parallel to each other. The roller is provided with a plurality of annular collars which are side by side and spaced apart. The annular collars are cooled by means of a flow of cooling fluid which is oriented transversely with respect to their axis and parallel to their median plane. The annular riders are made in tubular form and may be of toroidal form and are connected separately each to the supply duct and to the return duct for the cooling fluid. They may also be formed by the individual turns of a tubular spiral or by a number of successive segments of a spiral which are connected via their ends to the supply duct and to the return duct.

  • Patent number: 4982934
Abstract: A reheating, accumulation and holding furnace for blooms comprises a first section in which the blooms are moved along a runway by a first pusher, and a second section in which said blooms are moved by the lift and shifting movement of longitudinal members parallel to the direction of movement of the blooms. Said longitudinal members are constructed with two different surface heights and are mobile at two different levels. At the lesser level only those blooms in a central position in the furnace are reached and moved, whereas at the greater level all the blooms present on the longitudinal members are reached and moved. The combination of bloom movements obtained by the pusher and the two different heights of the longitudinal members determines the passage, accumulation and de-accumulation of the blooms within the furnace.

  • Patent number: 4648837
Abstract: A walking beam furnace comprises a hearth formed by fixed and walking beams disposed with their axes in the feed direction. Both the walking beams and the fixed beams are divided at positions spaced apart in the feed direction into sections, and each section of each beam is staggered relative to the adjacent section. As a result, the material to be annealed comes into contact with the cooled fixed beams at different positions at each of the conveying pauses and temperature balancing takes place at the points of contact.

  • Patent number: 4082545
Abstract: Iron ore is introduced in a series of fluidized bed reactors, with a reducing gas that is heated before each bed and cooled after each bed and thereafter washed with water so as to remove from the gas the very fine powder of solids which otherwise would build up in the reactors. The reducing gas can be divided and fed to the reactors in parallel, the gas from all the reactors being recombined and subjected to washing, addition of make-up gas, and recompression, prior to recycling in a plurality of parallel streams. Alternatively, the reducing gas can proceed from the final reactor in reverse order to the passage of iron ore through the reactors, with heating of the gas before each reactor and cooling and washing of the gas after each reactor, followed by addition of make-up and recompression prior to recycling.
