Abstract: A workspace system includes a working region and a plurality of work surfaces or desktops placed in the working region. The working region provides a first environment suitable for a right hemisphere-dominant job, a second environment suitable for a left hemisphere-dominant job, a third environment different from the first and the second environments, and a seating area in which a job performer takes a seat. Accordingly, the desktops may include a first desktop for the first environment, a second desktop for the second environment, and a third desktop for the third environment. The three working environments are arranged about the seating area. The first, the second and the third desktops are different in e.g. feel, material, shape and color from each other.
Abstract: A chair is provided which includes an inner member for supporting the body of a person and an outer member for supporting the right and left edges of the inner member. The inner member is made of a synthetic resin and formed into a plate so that the inner member is elastically deformed under the weight of the person. The inner member is attached to the outer member with its side portions supported. Thus, behind the inner member is a space for allowing the inner member to be deformed. In order to be applied to the seat of a chair, preferably, the outer member includes a metal base and a pair of auxiliary supporting elements to be fitted on the metal base. The inner member and the auxiliary supporting elements are fixed to each other in a non-releasable manner by an engaging assembly including engagement nails and engagement holes.

Abstract: A carriage is provided for a storage-retrieval system including a shelf assembly. The carriage includes a base member, at least one carrier region above the base member for supporting an object to be transferred, at least one pair of shifting units flanking the carrier region. The shifting units are reciprocally movable into and away from the shelf assembly. Engaging members are mounted on the shifting units. Each of the engaging members arranged to pivot about a vertical axis and movable between a closed position for contacting the object and an open position for avoiding the contacting with the object.
Abstract: In the file retrieval managing system, each shelf board (5) has a retrieval plate (1) comprising a plurality of optical guide plates, indicating visible light emitting elements, retrieving light emitting elements, and light receiving elements. A file (9) stored on the retrieval plate is provided with an identification board (2) which emits from its light emitting portion a light beam incident from the retrieving light emitting element at a corresponding position into each optical guide plate as an output light beam having an optical pattern peculiar to the file. The output light beam is converted by the light receiving element at the end of the optical guide plate into an electric signal to obtain detected data. Upon retrieval of the file, retrieval data of a desired file is inputted.
Abstract: A chair is provided which comprises a support, a seat arranged above the support, and a seat back tiltably connected to the support behind the seat. The seat back has an upper back supporting portion and a lower waist supporting portion. The chair further comprises a mechanism for deforming the waist supporting portion forward until the seat back tilts rearward to a predetermined intermediate tilt angle but for retarding or stopping such forward deformation when the seat back tilts rearward beyond this intermediate tilt angle. The seat may be made to move rearward as the seat back tilts rearward.
Abstract: The present invention provides a tilting control assembly for a chair. The chair comprises a support device, a seat supported above the support device, and a seat back arranged behind the seat to tilt rearwardly. The tilting control assembly comprises a tilting control spring device for elastically supporting the seat back against rearward tilting thereof via a load applying member, a displacing mechanism responsive to a downward load applied to the seat for causing the load applying member to move relative to the spring device, and a lock device for preventing the load applying member from moving reversely relative to the spring device when the seat back is rearwardly tilted.
Abstract: The present invention provides a chair tilting control assembly which comprises a fixed frame mounted on a chair leg post, a tiltable member supported by the fixed frame to tilt downward about a lateral support shaft, and a chair seat movable downward under the weight of a sitter. The tilting control assembly comprises at least one tilting control spring for elastically supporting the tiltable member at a certain support position relative thereto, and a motion converting mechanism which converts downward movement of the seat into displacement of the support position rearwardly away from the lateral support shaft.
