    Abstract: A connector (10) that includes an insert (14) with contact-holding passages (16), is retained in a shell (12) by a pair of resilient sheet metal tines (30). The rear portion of the shell is provided with forwardly-facing shoulders (60) at the inside of the shell, and a pair of tines (30) are mounted on the insert. Each tine has a mount portion (40) fixed in the insert isolator (36), a first section (42) extending at a rearward (R) and outward (O) incline so the rear end (44) of the first section lies directly forward of the shoulder, and a second section (50) extending inwardly (I) from the rear end of the first section and having a tab (52) to enable inward deflection of the tine to release it from the shoulder. The tine generally lies in a cavity (46) at the rear of the insulator and at a side thereof, to enable a tool to be used to deflect the tab and release the insert.

    Abstract: There is disclosed in a microchannel plate for an image intensifier tube, a fissured material capable of secondary electron emission disposed on a top surface of the microchannel plate. The fissured material has randomized fissures which permit electrons impinging on the material to exhibit increased electron emission along each of the fissures. The fissured material operates as an electron multiplier causing a cascade of electrons for entry into the MCP channels in response to an electron entering a respective one of the fissures. The image intensifier tube includes an evacuated housing with a photo cathode disposed at a first end thereof, and an optic element disposed at a second end thereof. The microchannel plate with the fissured coating on the top surface is disposed in the evacuated housing between the photo cathode and the optic element.

    Abstract: A wheel bearing sensor for measuring rotary motion of a wheel includes a signal generator ring that rotates with the wheel and a sensor-accommodating housing, which is a rotation-symmetric element, such as a deep drawn sheet-metal part. This housing accepts a speed sensor in a sensor insertion side and retains the sensor in a fixed position. A radially outwardly directed flange on this side of the housing engages a sensor flange on the sensor when the sensor is inserted in the sensor insertion side of the sensor-accommodating housing. The sensor flange has prongs that engage the tooth gaps when the speed sensor is inserted into the housing. These prongs backgrip the teeth when the speed sensor rotates within the housing.

The reliability of the system may be improved by providing a simulator chamber that is connected to a hydraulic chamber and which is bounded in the master brake cylinder by a second piston, by way of a closable connection.

    Abstract: A brake system for automotive vehicles includes a pneumatic brake power booster with a control valve which is operable by a solenoid irrespective of the driver's wish. A control structure having a position controller which influences the position of the control valve provides the signals representative of voltage which are supplied to the solenoid. To achieve a comfortable, exactly controllable independent operation of the brake power booster, the position controller is provided by a comparator, connected upstream of which is a second summer wherein the output quantity of the deceleration controller is compared with a weighted signal representative of the speed of the armature. The output quantity of the deceleration controller corresponds to the position of the armature relative to the housing of the solenoid, and the travel signal which corresponds to the actual condition of the control valve represents the actual position of the armature relative to the housing of the solenoid.

    Abstract: A method of operation of an electronically controllable brake actuation system for anti-lock automotive vehicle brake systems employs a brake system which includes a master brake cylinder operable by an actuating pedal, braking pressure generators which are electromechanically operable by an electronic control unit. The braking pressure generators are directly connected to wheel brakes of a vehicle and are connectable to the master brake cylinder by way of hydraulic connections closable by valves that are electromagnetically operable by the electronic control unit. The system also includes at least one sensor device for identification of the driver wish for deceleration, and at least one simulator chamber interacting with the master brake cylinder. On commencement of a braking operation, a signal representative of the position of the master brake cylinder piston and a signal representative of the actuating speed occurring on the actuating pedal are produced.

The quick connector includes a check valve to establish a substantially hermetic seal between the tank and the environment at all times to prevent the escape of liquid fuel during the refueling process as well as the escape of toxic vapors. A bypass vent operates during the refueling process to draw any vapors escaping from the tank or entering through the fuel fill tube inlet, filtering and returning them to the fuel tank.

A variable boosting factor is achieved by constructively defining a basic boosting factor of a brake power booster that may be overridden by electronic independent activation. In a preferred embodiment, the driver's pedal force is measured either directly at the brake pedal, or after the pedal force is boosted by the brake pedal on the piston rod of the brake power booster by means of a force. A nominal pressure specification is generated from this quantity by way of a variable amplifier and an electrical signal-adapting unit. The braking pressure which is produced from the driver's pedal force and the basic boosting factor of the brake power booster can be overridden by this independent activation.
