Abstract: Described herein are hydrogel compositions comprising extracts of Sambucus nigra, Centella asiatica and Echinacea purpurea. The compositions were found to have improved wound-healing effects. Also described herein are methods for treatment of a wound comprising administering, topically to a patient in need thereof, a therapeutically effective amount of a hydrogel composition comprising extracts of Sambucus nigra, Centella asiatica and Echinacea purpurea.

Abstract: An aspect of embodiments of the invention relates to providing novel therapeutic compositions comprising herbal extracts of the plant species Sambucus nigra, Echinacea purpurea, and Centella asiatica. The compositions exhibit increased therapeutic activity for treatment of various inflammatory diseases, in particular, inflammatory diseases of mucosa or skin relative to previously identified compositions. In addition the compositions exhibit increased solubility relative to previously identified compositions. In an embodiment of the invention, the ratio of Sambucus nigra:Echinacea purpurea:Centella asiatica is 7:1:2. An embodiment of the invention provides methods for preparing an aqueous therapeutic composition comprising extracts of the aforementioned plant species, using at least two extractions.

Abstract: A vapor/smoke capturing trap system featuring a smoke chamber trap for precipitating the smoke dispersed in the chamber. The chamber includes a bottom pool for containing a reservoir of a liquid solvent, and a gas filled portion in which a lower smog portion contains fog-sized droplets of the liquid solvent and into which the smoke is introduced, and an upper clear portion in which the concentration of the smoke and the droplets is decreased, respective of their concentration in the smog portion. A fog-condenser, disposed between the smog portion and the clear portion, precipitates the fog droplets of the smog portion into the pool. A fine mist generator streams a jet of fog-sized droplets of the liquid solvent mixed with smoke toward a concentration of the smoke at the smog portion. A closed loop gas circulator withdraws gas from the clear portion and recirculates the gas under pressure through the fine mist generator into the smog portion.
