Abstract: A rod and reel holder which comprises three brackets which are mounted on the inside of a garage door. As many as eight fishing rods and reels can be stored, in a horizontal position, on each holder, which occupies otherwise wasted “wall” space, that is, the inside panels of a garage door.
Abstract: A hose fitting assembly which includes a relatively rigid tubular element, an outer sleeve or element defining with a tail of the element an annular chamber for receiving an end part of the hose, a thrust mechanism for compressing the hose axially into contact with the tail, a mechanism locking the outer sleeve to the inner element and a thrust member for completing the fastening.
Abstract: Two preferred embodiments of an apparatus are disclosed for imparting combined synchronous reciprocating and oscillatory motions to a cutting tool of the type used with an engine lathe to cut a continuous circumferential serpentine-patterned groove in the surface of a workpiece held and rotated about an axis of rotation by the lathe. The tool is axially journaled and mounted on a slide block permitting oscillatory and reciprocating motions of the tool relative to the rotating workpiece. Direct inflexible drive mechanisms impart the reciprocating and oscillatory motions, where the motions are synchronous with each other and are timed so as to define an integral number of waves around the circumference of the workpiece. The first embodiment employs a cam, cam followers, and direct mechanical or hydraulic linkages therefrom utilizing a minimum of parts to impart the motions. The second embodiment employs two separate servo motors to impart the motions.
Abstract: A cycle carrier is described for detachable mounting to a vehicle hitch of the type including a tubular receiver. The carrier includes a horizontal frame and a tongue which is slidably received in the receiver of the vehicle hitch. Wheel supports are movably adjustable on the frame to accommodate cycles of different wheel bases. Retention means secure the wheels of the cycle in the wheel supports during transport. The carrier is readily detached from the vehicle hitch when it is no longer needed.
Abstract: An animated dental floss dispenser which simulates the flossing of a person's teeth as the dental floss is withdrawn, the animation being produced by a particularly simple and inexpensive mechanism.
Abstract: Improved methods and apparatus are provided for drying polish or brightener applied to fingernails. A compact housing is provided with an opening for receiving the hand of the user, and a thermoelectric refrigeration unit is provided within the housing for cooling the air below ambient temperature. Air is recirculated by a fan in a portion of the housing, and a deflector directs the cool air away from the opening and onto the fingernails.
Abstract: A portable machine for washing dirt, mud and other types of foreign matter from the surface of golf balls comprising a short cylindrical container whose upper and lower interior surfaces are fitted with roughly textured resilient scrubbing pads and whose upper surface contains a water tight, sealable opening with a hinged snapfast lid providing a means whereby a golf ball may be introduced into the confines of said short cylindrical container and sealed within and whereby water, surfactants and other materials may also be introduced into the confines of the system and through which the entire inner system may be cleansed as needed.
