Abstract: A cutting tool, particularly a knife, is formed of a blade and handle, the blade having a tang which extends into the handle. The handle is configured with an insertion shaft having sidewalls and a height greater than its width as measured in cross section. The insertion shaft receives the tang. Portions of the sidewalls are cut out to form elongated recesses giving the shaft the shape of a cross as viewed in cross section. Lugs are formed at ends of the recesses facing the blade for secure engagement with the tang.
