Patents Assigned to J. B. Martin Company
  • Patent number: 8586489
Abstract: A woven fabric is provided that incorporates multiple systems of fibers into a unitary fabric and presents the fibers of only one of the warp systems on a first surface of the fabric. The fabric structure comprises first, second, and third warp systems that are interlaced with weft fibers such that, of the three warp systems, the first surface of the fabric comprises only the first warp system and thus “hides” the second and third warp systems, which are not interwoven with the fibers of the first warp system. In this way, the effect of the appearance of the second and third warp systems on the overall appearance of the fabric is reduced. The three warp systems may include fibers made of different materials to provide different characteristics to each layer of the fabric, or the warp systems may include fibers made of the same material.

  • Patent number: 6923219
Abstract: A pile fabric includes woven together inner and outer layers and cut pile yarns woven into the inner layer. The outer layer has a higher yarn count than the inner layer, without counting the pile yarns. The pile fabric is one of two substantially similar pile fabrics formed by simultaneously weaving two fabrics that are connected to one another by the pile yarns, and then cutting the pile yarns to separate the pile fabrics from one another. Nonpile surfaces of each of the connected fabrics include an oblique, woven fabric pattern. The fabric pattern of a first of the connected fabrics is at least substantially like the fabric pattern of the second of connected fabrics, except that the fabric pattern of the first connected fabric is not parallel to the fabric pattern of the second connected fabric.

  • Patent number: 4921098
Abstract: This invention relates to a hanger for receiving convolute wound textile material that is readily crushable and for shipping and thereafter displaying the wound textile material. The hanger has a generally planar skeletal frame having impaling pins at opposite ends of an upper portion thereof. The pins impale the fabric selvage at an upper portion of the wound textile fabric to suspendingly support the fabric on the hanger. The lower selvage of the textile fabric is secured by tie-down straps to a lower portion of the hanger frame. The hanger is suitable for supporting the textile material during shipment as when inserted into an appropriately sized carton. A pair of end plugs is provided at opposite ends of the hanger to ensure that the hanger and the fabric carried thereby do not shift around inside the carton and thereby cause the fabric to be wrinkled or crushed during handling and shipment.

  • Patent number: 4854352
Abstract: A woven multilayered textile fabric and attendant method wherein a plurality of layers of the fabric are formed of straight yarns, including a plurality of layers formed of warp yarns and a plurality of layers formed of filling yarns positioned in superposed relation on opposite sides of the layers of warp yarns and extending at right angles to the warp yarns, and binder yarns arranged in cooperating pairs with one binder yarn of each pair extending over certain superposed filling yarns and under certain other superposed filling yarns, and the other binder yarn of each pair being woven oppositely under said certain superposed filling yarns and over said certain other superposed filling yarns.
