Abstract: An adjustable connection between a reciprocating rod and a rocker arm which is connected through a rotatable shaft to a linkage which shifts at least one feeding unit in a reciprocating feed stroke in response to movement of the rocker arm characterized by the rocker arm having a slot receiving a block which is pivotably attached to the end of the rod and which block is adjustably positioned in the slot to vary the effective length of the rocker arm and thus varies the length of the feeding stroke for the feeding unit. Preferably, the slot in the rocker arm lies on a line extending perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the rod when the rocker arm is in one position so that one end of the feeding stroke of the feeding unit remains in a constant and fixed position relative to the device regardless of changes in the length of the stroke.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying a reinforcing liner blank on a moving box blank and shifting the assembled blank into the desired position for a subsequent attachment together characterized by a first belt moving a box blank in one direction, a second belt moving a liner blank and guiding it into surface-to-surface engagement on the moving box blank and the belts coacting to move the box blank and with the liner engaged thereon and cooperating with a shifting device which moves the blanks relative to each other to the desired position prior to joining the blanks together. The shifting device includes at least one endless chain belt having an abutment for engagement by the leading edge of the box blank and a second abutment for engagement by the leading edge of the liner blank which abutments coact with the respective belts to cause slippage of their respective blank on the belt when the leading edge is engaged.
Abstract: A clutch or coupling device for interconnecting a drive shaft to an axially aligned driven shaft which supports drive sprockets for chain belt conveyor of a press characterized by a disk member connected to the drive shaft for rotation therewith and having a plurality of recesses which have converging planar side walls and are circumferentially spaced on a circle coaxial with the axis of the drive shaft to receive circumferentially spaced dogs which have slanting plane surfaces extending substantially parallel to the side walls of the grooves and are mounted on a flange member which is connected by a mounting device to the driven shaft.
Abstract: Apparatus for receiving folded boxes from a machine such as a folder-gluer and stacking said folded boxes in one stack but with portions of the stack in alternately disposed directions to avoid an unbalance in overall thickness of said stack, said apparatus including two box receiving stations located in vertically spaced planes, a shiftable conveyor for selectively moving folded boxes to each of said receiving stations and means for turning over a stack of folded boxes deposited in a first station and then depositing same in a second station on top of other folded boxes already deposited in a second station.

Abstract: Apparatus for handling sheet material incorporates a suction member for engaging and lifting individual sheets in order to separate and feed them. The suction member is mounted on a telescopic structure adapted to move outwardly to engage a sheet and to retract the sheet, once engaged, into a feeding position. The head of the suction member is mounted on a swivel arrangement to permit it to adapt to the plane of the sheet.
Abstract: Apparatus for the continuous measurement of the elastic coefficient of a traveling strip, wire or ribbon, is characterized in that it employs first and second means for driving the strip arranged one behind the other in the direction of motion of the strip. The second driving means drives the strip at a speed different from that of the first driving means and first and second tension measuring devices are disposed in front of the first and second driving means, respectively, and deliver respective quantities which are proportional to the tensions measured thereby. A comparator circuit is provided for determining the difference in the measured tensions, this difference being proportional to the elastic coefficient of the strip.
