    Abstract: A multibed catalyzer (1) is for an exhaust system of a combustion engine, of a motor vehicle. In a housing (2), at least two catalytic monoliths (3, 4) are arranged axially adjacent to be flowed-through in succession. The two monoliths (3, 4) are encased on the circumferential side by a common heat-resistance bearing mat (5) and supported by means of this bearing mat (5) in the housing (2). In order to enable a predetermined axial minimal distance between the two monoliths (3, 4), at least two heat-resistant distancing elements (9) are distributed circumferentially and axially between the two monoliths (3, 4), so that the monoliths are axially supported on one another by means of the distancing elements (9).

The bearing jacket (2) surrounding the monolith (3) on the perimeter is pressed during an initial phase onto the monolith (3) in a first peripheral section (8) and in a second peripheral section (9), whereby the two peripheral sections (8, 9) together are smaller than the total circumference of the monolith (3) surrounded by the bearing jacket pressed onto it. The bearing jacket (2) is pressed onto the monolith (3) during a subsequent second phase in at least one third peripheral section (16), which is situated between the first peripheral section (8) and the second peripheral section (9), whereby the first peripheral section (8) and the second peripheral section (9) together with all the third peripheral sections (16) are the same size as the total circumference.

    Abstract: A muffler has an integrated SCR catalytic converter for an exhaust line of an internal combustion engine, in particular in a motor vehicle The muffler includes a housing which has an intake trumpet on the intake end and an exhaust pipe on the output end. Catalytic converter elements are arranged in the housing with one inlet end in an inlet chamber and with an outlet end in an outlet chamber. An outlet end of the intake trumpet communicates with the inlet chamber. To improve the efficiency of the SCR catalytic converter the inlet chamber is sealed off from the outside and with respect to the intake trumpet and the catalytic converter elements to the extent that in operation of the internal combustion engine with exhaust gas loaded with urea, passing through the intake trumpet into the inlet chamber, the exhaust gas leaves the inlet chamber only through the catalytic converter elements.

A bearing ring (17) made of bearing material engages into the U-shaped profile (12) of the supporting ring (10) on its axial end, which faces away from the substrate body (3) and is supported thereon axially. With its axial end facing the substrate body (3), the bearing ring (17) is supported on the end face (11).
