  • Patent number: 11549318
Abstract: An apparatus serves to grip a cable for delivery into a borehole in a surface of a mine passage in connection with an actuator, such as a drill mast having a carriage capable of being advanced and retracted along the drill mast. A pusher is formed from a pair of jaws for engaging the cable. The jaws may be biased toward a first position for engaging the cable during an advance of the carriage, and automatically movable to a second position for releasing from engagement with the cable during a retraction of the carriage. The pusher may be pivotally mounted to a carriage capable of being advanced and retracted along a drill mast, which movement may cause the jaws to self-actuate for engaging and advancing the cable during an upstroke and release therefrom during a downstroke. Related methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11002075
Abstract: A system for drilling one or more boreholes in a face of a mine passage including markers attached to the mine passage. A drilling machine includes one or more drills for drilling the one or more boreholes, and a first sensor for sensing a position of the markers. Based on the sensed position of the at least two markers, a computer determines: (i) a survey vector generally parallel to the line; and (ii) a face plane generally orthogonal to the survey vector and coincident with a location where the survey vector intersects the face. A controller may be provided for automatically controlling the feeding of the drill(s) based on the location of the face plane and the back plane to form the boreholes in the face. A back plane may also be determined to ensure that all boreholes are drilled to a corresponding depth. Related methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8991515
Abstract: In a valveless percussive drill of the hydraulic type and incorporating a hammer assembly, an “intermediate” shoulder between the head portion and cushion portion of a reciprocating piston engages the end face of a distributor or liner, rather than an interior bearing structure for the piston. This end face can be made harder than the ulterior bearing structure, which may include a surface made of a different material than the piston. Collectively, the result is a percussive drill with the hammer assembly incorporating the piston substantially less susceptible to failure due to galling as the result of contamination in the working fluid.
