  • Patent number: 4350141
Abstract: A device for preventing blow back through the fuel loading door in stoves or heaters in which the rate of combustion is controlled by restricting the supply of air to the combustion chamber. When the stove is burning during normal operation the fuel loading door is closed and an air inlet to the combustion chamber is blocked by a pan member of the outer cabinet door. A thermostatic damper controls the rate of combustion in the combustion chamber by restricting the quantity of air supplied via other air intakes. When the outer cabinet door is opened to gain access to the fuel loading door, the pan member on the cabinet door is moved away from the air inlet to the combustion chamber thereby allowing additional air to enter the combustion chamber via the air inlet to the combustion chamber. The additional air supplied via this air inlet increases the rate of combustion prior to the opening of the fuel loading door.

  • Patent number: 4247039
Abstract: A mail box gang apparatus which utilizes the construction of a mail box as an inherent structural component of the gang to achieve uniformity in mail box appearance, greater strength and permanency. The apparatus may include two horizontal rows of mail boxes mounted one upon the other, the boxes being affixed to one another at both the upper and lower portions to form an integral beam type structure of substantial strength. To facilitate such ganging in the manner described, the mail boxes are modified to include a new flagging system which advises the mail man of the presence of outgoing mail. This flag system affixed to the door of the box includes a panel which is merely rotated to disclosed a flag indication and is automatically reset upon opening of the box. In the preferred embodiment, the mail box door is modified to facilitate mounting of the flag and includes a novel latch device together with a pleasing appearance.

  • Patent number: 4190192
Abstract: A mailbox of the type that is located outdoors and is exposed to all weather conditions has an access aperture with a door adapted to selectively open the aperture for removal of mail in the mailbox. A lock mounting arrangement is provided to permit the mailbox to be locked to prevent unauthorized removal of the mail. In addition, a mail slot sufficiently large to permit the insertion of mail but small enough to prevent access for removal of the mail is provided. A pivoted flap covers the mail slot. Appropriate shielding means, such as the top and sides of a specially shaped mailbox, protect the door, the mail slot and the lock mounting from inclement weather conditions.

  • Patent number: 4003278
Abstract: A device for cutting lengths of tubing from a longer tube utilizes an external pair of cutting dies and an internal pair of punches. An eccentric relative motion ("shimmy") of the cutting dies results in the desired cutting of the tube. The punches are inserted into the tube from the end of the tube from which the length of tubing is to be cut. A restraining arrangement prevents the punches from moving farther along the tube than is desired, while a punch positioning mechanism prevents movement of the punches toward the open end of the tube. Thus, the internal punches are accurately positioned with respect to the external cutting dies. A centering arrangement is utilized to insure coaxiality of the punches.

  • Patent number: 3981413
Abstract: A door for a mailbox that has an open end to be selectively closed by the door, the mailbox being of the free standing type most frequently encountered in rural areas, is pivotally mounted on the mailbox by an improved hinging arrangement. A solid flat bar is secured to the door by an appropriate fastening arrangement, such as rivets. Transversely extending supporting arms, one at each end of the flat bar, are pivotedly connected to opposite sides of the mailbox by an appropriate mounting structure, such as rivets that are not completely tightened. The supporting arms may be integrally formed with the flat bar, and a transversely extending flange may also be integrally formed with the bar to provide additional strength.
