Patents Assigned to Jagenberg-Werke AG
  • Patent number: 4030616
Abstract: In a device for stripping empty containers from a plurality of mandrels associated with a mandrel wheel and comprising a mandrel wheel, a plurality of mandrels projecting radially from said wheel, means for rotating said wheel and said mandrels, and radially displaceable means for stripping empty containers from said mandrels, the improvement which comprises supporting means carried by said wheel in association with each mandrel and of such size that upon rotation of said wheel said stripping means contacts the supporting means of the next mandrel before it ceases to contact the supporting means of the immediately preceding mandrel, whereby the stripping means is always positively supported.

  • Patent number: 4017774
Abstract: A method for coordinating the rate of processing of a container at a processing station with the rate of feed of said container to and removal from said processing station, comprising selecting a predetermined rate for said processing and said feed and removal, independently and continuously comparing the actual processing rate with said selected rate, independently and continuously comparing the actual feed and removal rate with said selected rate, and independently adjusting the actual rate of processing and the actual rate of feed and removal as needed to arrive at said selected rate. A corresponding apparatus is described wherein the speed selecting means includes a potentiometer. A pair of tachogenerators respond independently to the actual speeds of processing and conveying and these are independently electronically compared with the selected speed established by the potentiometer, the driving speeds being independently adjusted as needed in response to the comparisons.

  • Patent number: 3998378
Abstract: A folding box having a liquid-tight sealed bottom of substantially rectangular configuration, the bottom being formed of first and second facing pairs of panels of the end section of the box wall which end section is not slit about its entire periphery, the pairs of panels being folded down on one another at 90.degree. to the longitudinal axis of the box, the first pair of panels each including a triangular area and two additional areas forming a folding pocket with the two additional areas lying over the triangular area, a fillet seam lying flat along the box bottom and formed of a narrow strip about the entire end section of the box wall, the central area of the bottom being arched toward the inside of the box, the box including a pair of parallel ridges at the sides of the bottom defining the second pair of panels, the ridges being elevated relative to the bottom in inverted position and tapering toward the first pair of panels.

  • Patent number: 3970499
Abstract: In the method of applying glued labels to continuously advancing bottles or the like, wherein a pickup member is successively brought into contact with a glue applying means, the topmost label of a stack and a gripper carried by a cylinder for receiving the glued label and placing it on the bottle, the improvement which comprises folding over by 180.degree. that marginal area of each label which is later to be gripped by the gripper, folding being effected while the label is carried by the pickup member. This is accomplished by having the pickup member pick up the label in such manner that the forward marginal area is free. Two bending members are positioned between the stack of labels and the gripper and they successively act on the free marginal area of the label to bend it 90.degree. each time. Thus the gripper grabs the label where it is doubled and this reinforcement reduces the likelihood of tearing.

  • Patent number: 3944152
Abstract: The application relates to an improvement in a rewinding machine for continuous individual webs of paper cut from a wider web, and including a backing cylinder, a plurality of winding shafts alternately arranged diametrically opposite one another relative to the backing cylinder, a roll on each of the winding shafts, and bearing blocks for each of the rolls, whereby the individual webs contact the backing cylinder and alternate individual webs are taken up on the rolls arranged on the winding shafts on each side of the backing cylinder, the bearing blocks permitting the shafts and rolls to move away from the backing cylinder as the roll diameters increase due to webs wound thereon, all known in the art.
