    Abstract: The monoblock surface milling cutter has a milling cutter body (10) to which cutting plates (16) made of polycrystalline diamond (PCD), monocrystalline diamond (MCD) or polycrystalline boron nitrite (PCB) are fastened in a material-to-material fashion. In order to improve the surface quality of the work pieces manufactured with the milling cutter, axially adjustable finishing inserts (18) are fixed in place in at least two substantially axially extending bores (26), which are open at the front, of the milling cutter body (10). The finishing inserts (18) can also be equipped with cutting plates made of PCD, MCD or PCB. Preferably the cutting edges (24) of the cutting plates (22) of the finishing insert (18) are forward curved.

A rotationally drivable milling cutter has a cylindrical carrier body (10), which is equipped on its circumference with a plurality of cutting bodies (12) comprising a cutting material that is harder than hard metal. The cutting bodies (12) are embodied in platelike form and are each embodied and disposed such that the leading region of the radially outer circumferential edge forms the cutting edge, the adjacent side face (15) forms the first face with a negative rake angle, and the top face (17) diametrically opposite the bottom face forms the flank. To that end, the cutting bodies (12) are each secured with their bottom face on the end face of blind bores (30), in the circumferential face thereof, that are oriented with the angle to the shortest connecting line between the center point of the end face and the center longitudinal axis of the carrier body (10) such that the side face (15) adjacent to the cutting edge forms the predetermined rake angle.

    Abstract: The profile turning tool is used for rough-turning and dressing circumferential and flat surfaces, in particular of workpieces made of light metals. It consists of a holder (10) with a receiver (16) for a diamond cutting head (18) as well as a claw (20), which is embodied as a chip breaker, engages a longitudinal groove (26) in the holder (10) and braces the cutting head (18) by means of a tightening screw (22). The groove (26) is located directly behind the cutting head (18). In longitudinal section, its base has an arcuate, concave shape and represents a pivot bearing for the claw (20) that has a correspondingly shaped underside and is guided on the lateral walls of the groove (26). The tightening screw (22) extends in front of the center of the arc with play through a hole in the claw (20).

    Abstract: A cutting tool has a chip breaker, disposed in the region of the chip face, for preventing uncontrolled chip formation. The chip breaker is disposed at a certain spacing from the cutting edge of a diamond layer that is applied to a substrate body. In prior art versions, a joint remained between the chip breaker and the diamond layer, and chips could penetrate the joint and become stuck there. To prevent this, the diamond layer, in the region of the chip breaker, is recessed down to the substrate body and that the chip breaker is applied there directly to the substrate body. In this way, a chip breaker can be disposed with a good hold in the vicinity of the cutting edges without sacrifices in terms of the strength of the cutting layer.
