  • Patent number: 4580794
Abstract: An improved silicone rubber gasket having improved oil resistance, permeability characteristics and compressive set characteristics. The silicone rubber composition utilized is made from an organopolysiloxane gum, a silica filler, a quantity of hollow microspheres, and a curing catalyst. The polysiloxane, microspheres, and filler material are first blended to form the uncured rubber compositions. The rubber composition is then mixed with a suitable catalyst and cured in the desired shape. The microspheres are selected to have the requisite strength for being milled or mixed into the silicone rubber compound without fracturing.

  • Patent number: 4552713
Abstract: A handgrip, such as a golf club grip, having improved non-slip features is shown which is formed from a silicone rubber composition. The silicone rubber composition comprises an organopolysiloxane gum, a silica filler material, as organosilicone processing aid, a texturizing material, and a quantity of hollow spheres. The texturizing material and spheres are first blended into the composition while heating the composition. The rubber composition is then placed in a suitable mold and cured with a peroxide catalyst to form the handgrip. The external surface of the cured handgrip is buffed to fracture the hollow spheres nearest the surface and improve the non-slip character of the handgrip.

  • Patent number: 4551293
Abstract: A method of forming a spark plug boot which utilizes an extrusion process. An elastomeric tube is extruded, then heated to a partially cured condition. The tube is then cut into individual pieces. The individual pieces are stretched over a pin which has at least one external shoulder. The pin and tube are then heated to a temperature and for a time to provide a final cure. The tube is stripped from the pin. The compression set and shrinkage results in an internal shoulder in the tube, allowing it to serve as a spark plug boot.

  • Patent number: 4538381
Abstract: A gasket, particularly for use with an oven door, has features that allow it to be bent into a rectangular shape. The gasket has a base that is extruded with a tubular section that protrudes outwardly from it. A wire is simultaneously drawn through the base while the gasket is being extruded. The wire is sufficiently ductile to allow the gasket to be bent into a rectangular shape, and has sufficient strength to hold the gasket in that shape. Resilient metal clips are used to grip the base and extend into apertures provided in the oven for securing the gasket to the oven.

  • Patent number: 4248017
Abstract: An oven door stretch gasket which comprises an extruded length of silicone rubber having a relatively short hooked metal insert adhered to the interior of the ends thereof. The insert is adhered by means of room temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber cement. The hook ends are adapted to be engaged in apertures which are provided at the corners of an oven chamber in a stretching action, the openings being spaced apart somewhat more than the unstretched distance between the hook ends. To install or remove the gasket it must be stretched. The invention herein is concerned with a structure which will provide a more tenacious adherence between the insert and the length of gasket.
