Patents Assigned to James Howden Australia Pty. Limited
  • Patent number: 4637826
Abstract: In a mechanical shake type fabric filter having a reciprocable shaker rack (10), a plurality of filter bag support caps (14) suspended from the shaker rack (10) and a fabric filter bag (11) suspended from each cap (14), the improvement that each cap (14) has a staple (16) formed on its upper surface which is releasably engaged with a hook (19) formed on the lower end of a support bar (17) which extends vertically through an aperture (18) in the shaker rack. The bar (17) may be retained in any vertical position relative to the shaker rack (10) by a spring clip (22) which is slidably positioned on the bar (17) but is deformed so as to frictionally engage the bar (17) when it contacts the shaker rack (10).The arrangement allows rapid adjustment of bag tension and simplified bag replacement.

  • Patent number: 4511308
Abstract: A stall-free axial flow fan (10) has an impeller (12) with a plurality of radially extending blades (14) enclosed in a tubular casing (11) divided into a inlet portion (15), an intermediate portion (16) of larger diameter than the minimum diameter of the inlet portion (15) and an outlet portion (17) of a diameter no larger than the minimum diameter of the inlet portion (15). Impeller (12) is positioned with the leading edge of each blade (14) protruding into the intermediate portion (16) and the trailing edge protruding into the outlet portion (17). Inlet portion (15) may contain a plurality of radially extending vanes (19) each rotatable about a spindle (20) and extending between the stator (18) and the inner wall of the inlet portion (15). Intermediate portion (16) may contain a plurality of fixed vanes (21) disposed radially of the stator (18) and axially of the casing (11).

  • Patent number: 4465498
Abstract: A gas cleaning installation, such as might be used to filter particulate material from exhaust gases of a power generating boiler or the like, which comprises a pair of gas cleaning chambers each containing filtration means for a gas stream passing through the installation. The chambers are spaced apart to define between them a gas inlet passage or passages into the underside of each chamber and, above, the inlet passage or passages a gas outlet passage or passages. The gas outlet passage or passages together include a portion extending at least part way across the upper end of each chamber, the outlet passage or passages communicating with each chamber through an aperture extending between the interior of the chamber and the interior of the respective portions of the gas outlet passage or passages.

  • Patent number: 4390353
Abstract: A filter apparatus for filtering particulate matter from gas streams and which comprises a shaker rack suspended from a frame and supporting a plurality of filter bags and means to cause the rack to move reciprocally along a linear path wherein the shaker rack is suspended from the frame by a plurality of leaf springs which lie in parallel planes which planes are normal to the said linear path. The arrangement stops shimmying of the shaker rack during its reciprocal movement.

  • Patent number: 4350100
Abstract: An air infiltration and mixing device for introducing cool air into a duct, such as an exhaust duct from a power generation boiler, carrying a gas at an elevated temperature comprising a first duct carrying the gas at an elevated temperature and a plurality of further ducts, of significantly smaller cross sectional area than the first duct, extending into the first duct through a side wall thereof in a direction transversely of the longitudinal axis of the first duct. Each further duct having an aperture at its end within the first duct and facing in a downstream direction, the other end of each of the further ducts having an opening adapted to communicate with a source of cool air.

  • Patent number: 4323378
Abstract: Clamping means for clamping an end of a fabric filter bag to a supporting frame member comprising a U-shaped clamping member the bight portion of which forms a clamping portion lying on one side of the frame member while the arms project through apertures in the frame member, and a leaf spring engaged with the arms of the clamping member and bearing against the other side of the frame member such that the clamping portion of the clamping member is urged towards the one side of the frame member. This arrangement renders replacement or retensioning of a bag easier and prevents bag failure by reducing the stresses applied to the fibers of the bag while clamped in place.
