  • Patent number: 5664904
Abstract: A clamp for connecting together two parallel elongate members has a pair of body parts with respective recesses that can be brought together to define a through-opening receiving one of the members. To one side of the through-opening each body part has spaced tubular portions with coaxial bores. The tubular portions of the body parts can be meshed together to align their bores and the other of the elongate members inserted through the bores to lock the body parts together axially but allowing them to pivot on the further member. To the opposite side of the through-opening the body parts have snap-fastening recesses that engage a clamping lever. Cam mechanisms between the clamping lever and the body parts allow the body parts to be flexed together by pivoting the lever, so gripping both elongate members and locking them together releasably.

  • Patent number: 4881290
Abstract: A folding mop frame has a pair of lateral outer sections pivoted on a central section of the frame and resiliently engagable by that central section to hold them extended with all the sections co-planar. On the upper faces of the lateral sections, near their outer ends, are S-form resilient hangers which grip the ends of a mop head extending around the ends of the frame and over its bottom face. Simply by applying a downwards force to the outer sections, they can be released from their engagement with the center section and swing downwards to leave the mop head hanging loosely, in which state it can easily be wrung out. Because of the resilient nature of the S-form hangers, they can ensure the mop head is held taut across the bottom of the frame independently of any shrinkage of the mop head material due to wetting.

  • Patent number: 4620340
Abstract: A mop-wringing device has a main frame with a fixed lower support plate and a displaceable upper pressure plate. A toggle link mechanism pivots the pressure plate downwards about a rear edge pivot connection to squeeze water from a mop head placed between the two plates. The mechanism comprises a torque bar mounted below the support plate and C-form lever arms secured at one end to the bar and connected at the other end to the pressure plate through toggle links. The arrangement allows a wide opening of the plates and a high wringing pressure on the mop head. The pivot connection of the pressure plate comprises upwardly elongate slots for end pivot pins, whereby the pressure plate can tilt to a limited degree to adapt to the thickness of the mop head.
