    Abstract: In a wall electrode liquid crystal display device, planar distribution of the wall structure and the electrode is optimized to improve a yield. A liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix, each of the pixels having an insulator wall structure formed at a border of pixels, a wall electrode formed at a side surface of the wall structure of the border of the pixels, a source electrode which is continuous with the wall electrode and formed of a planar electrode extending in a planar direction, a first common electrode provided between source electrodes at both sides of the pixel to form a retentive capacitance, and a second common electrode provided between wall electrodes on both sides of the pixel. A slit which becomes a border of the wall electrodes of two adjacent pixels is disposed only on a top of the wall structure.

The shock absorbers include first shock absorbers, and second shock absorbers thinner than the first absorbers.     Abstract: Columnar spacers are formed on a TFT substrate where a TFT circuit layer is formed. The TFT circuit layer has a TFT and a pixel electrode. A spacing between the TFT substrate and a counter substrate having a color filter, a black matrix, and an overcoat film is controlled by columnar spacers. The columnar spacers are inserted into an overcoat film formed on the counter substrate. Thus, the counter substrate and the TFT substrate are protruded inward. The substrates protruded inward are unlikely to be deformed. When an external pressure is applied or the front window or the like is bonded to the liquid crystal display panel with resin, the counter substrate is unlikely to be deformed by a stress applied by shrinkage on resin curing. Moreover, the number of columnar spacers can be properly set, thereby preventing the occurrence of low-temperature air bubbles.

    Abstract: A pixel electrode is formed on a TFT substrate, and a gate insulating film, an inorganic passivation film, a common electrode, and an alignment film are formed in this order thereover. A columnar spacer is formed to the counter substrate and is adapted to define a gap between the TFT substrate and the counter substrate. A through hole is formed in the gate insulating film of the TFT substrate, and the columnar spacer is disposed so as to cover a concave portion formed by the through hole. Since the area of contact between the columnar spacer and the TFT substrate is decreased, it is possible to suppress scraping of the alignment film and thus to prevent occurrence of bright spots.

    Abstract: A pixel electrode is formed on a TFT substrate, and a gate insulating film is formed thereon. On the gate insulating film, formed is an inorganic passivation film, on which a common electrode having slits is formed. Through-holes are formed in the gate insulating film at areas where the pixel electrode faces the common electrode, and the pixel electrode is not connected to a source electrode in the through-hole. The through-holes are filled with the inorganic passivation film, and the common electrode is formed on the inorganic passivation film at a position corresponding to each through-hole. The pixel electrode faces the common electrode at the position through not the gate insulating film but only the inorganic passivation film, and thus the pixel capacity can be increased. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent changes in the electric potential of the pixel electrode caused by ON/OFF operations.

    Abstract: In a three-dimensional image display device using a liquid crystal parallax barrier panel, a liquid crystal display panel is first roughly aligned with the liquid crystal parallax barrier panel using an alignment mark. Subsequently, a white pattern for two pixels is formed in the center of a screen. When an observer's eyes are brought close to the screen, a blue pattern is generated in the center, and a white pattern is generated on both sides of the blue pattern. The relationship between a width d1 of the blue pattern and a width d2 of the white pattern is d1=2d2, and the tilt of the blue pattern is set in a predetermined range, so that necessary alignment accuracy can be secured.
