Abstract: A movement assist system for assisting stably a movement of a creature, particularly a creature whose body part is paralyzed due to neuropathy or the like. According to the movement assist system, walking movement of a human is assisted according to an output from an actuator of a movement assist device. A timing of an electrical stimulation applied to the creature is adjusted by an electrical stimulation device on the basis of a signal representing an arithmetic processing result by a first controller which controls the output of the actuator. According thereto, it is possible to apply an electrical stimulation to the human at an appropriate timing from the viewpoint of maintaining an appropriate posture by considering a periodical movement state of the human even in cases where the body function is degraded, allowing the human assisted by the movement assist device to continue the walking movement.

  • Publication number: 20080255489
Abstract: A knee-ankle-foot orthosis in accordance with the present invention can smoothly shift from the stance phase to the swing phase thereof. Namely, the knee-ankle-foot orthosis capable of securely locking a patient's knee in a desired angular position thereof with a load of his body weight, and immediately shifting his knee to the unlocked state without requiring any extra motion when the load disappears is provided. As shown in FIG. 1, the speed of the rotation of a knee axis gear 23 adapted to transmit the rotation of a knee axis 21 is increased by eight times with a speed increasing gear train 25, and is transmitted to a brake drum 41. A wire 31 wound around the brake drum 41 is connected to first and second levers 27 and 28 as load detecting members. When a foot holding portion 18 contacts the ground and the first lever 27 is stepped down, the wire 31 is pulled downwardly with a load of his body weight, whereby brakes are applied.

Abstract: The present invention provides a modularized prosthesis leg cover and a method for manufacturing the prosthesis leg cover, which quickly covers a prosthesis leg and does not affect bending or stretching motion of a knee joint part of the prosthesis leg, thus preventing damage to the knee joint part of the prosthesis leg. Thus, the modularized prosthesis leg cover of the present invention includes a thigh module (10), which can be mounted to a thigh socket (2) of the prosthesis leg, a lower leg module (30), which can be fastened to a calf pipe (6) of the prosthesis leg, and a patella module (20), which can be rotatably assembled with the lower leg module (30). The prosthesis leg cover, which is formed by assembling the modules, is covered with a skin module, which is made of a stretchable fiber. The respective modules of the present invention are provided as prefabricated modules.
