Patent number: 11638092Abstract: A microphone array is described for use in ultra-high acoustical noise environments. The microphone array includes two directional close-talk microphones. The two microphones are separated by a short distance so that one microphone picks up more speech than the other. The microphone array can be used along with an adaptive noise removal program to remove a significant portion of noise from a speech signal of interest.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2014Date of Patent: April 25, 2023Assignee: JAWB ACQUISITION LLCInventor: Gregory C. Patent number: 11044451Abstract: Embodiments relate generally to electrical/electronic hardware, computer software, wired and wireless network communications, portable, wearable, and stationary media devices. RF transceivers and/or audio system in each media device may be used to wirelessly communicate between media devices and allow configuration and other data to be wirelessly transmitted from one media device to another media device. The proximity detection system may be configured to detect a presence of a user or multiple users and upon detecting presence, access content on a user device, and record the content while also playing back the content on the media device. One or more user devices in proximity of the media device post detection may wirelessly communicate with the media device and the media device may orchestrate handling and/or queuing of content from those devices or from a wirelessly accessible location such as the Cloud, Internet, NAS, Flash memory, or other wireless sources.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2013Date of Patent: June 22, 2021Assignee: JAWB ACQUISITION LLCInventors: Michael Edward Smith Luna, Thomas Alan Donaldson

Patent number: 10827292Abstract: Various embodiments relate generally to electrical and electronic hardware, computer software, wired and wireless network communications, and audio and speaker systems. More specifically, disclosed are an apparatus and a method for processing signals for optimizing audio, such as 3D audio, by adjusting the filtering for cross-talk cancellation based on listener position and/or orientation. In one embodiment, an apparatus is configured to include a plurality of transducers, a memory, and a processor configured to execute instructions to determine a physical characteristic of a listener relative to the origination of the multiple channels of audio, to cancel crosstalk in a spatial region coincident with the listener at a first location, to detect a change in the physical characteristic of the listener, and to adjust the cancellation of crosstalk responsive to detecting the change in the physical characteristic to establish another spatial region at a second location.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2014Date of Patent: November 3, 2020Assignee: JAWB ACQUISITION LLCInventors: James Hall, Thomas Alan Donaldson

Patent number: 10790922Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for regenerating a local clock within a wireless module and synchronizing the local clock with a wireless host clock. For one embodiment, the wireless module generates a local clock, counts the cycles of the clock during a common timing reference period maintained wirelessly between the wireless module and the host, receives a count of the host clock during the same common timing reference period, and adjusts the local clock signal based upon a comparison of the two counts. For one embodiment, the wireless module further receives timing references from the host and, in addition, receives packets of audio samples from the host accompanied by a timestamp, the timestamp based upon the host timing reference, and outputs the audio sample at the time designated by the timestamp.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2013Date of Patent: September 29, 2020Assignee: JAWB ACQUISITION LLCInventor: William Sheet

Patent number: 10779080Abstract: A dual omnidirectional microphone array noise suppression is described. Compared to conventional arrays and algorithms, which seek to reduce noise by nulling out noise sources, the array of an embodiment is used to form two distinct virtual directional microphones which are configured to have very similar noise responses and very dissimilar speech responses. The only null formed is one used to remove the speech of the user from V2. The two virtual microphones may be paired with an adaptive filter algorithm and VAD algorithm to significantly reduce the noise without distorting the speech, significantly improving the SNR of the desired speech over conventional noise suppression systems.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2013Date of Patent: September 15, 2020Assignee: JAWB ACQUISITION LLCInventor: Gregory C.
