  • Patent number: 6471004
Abstract: A self locking basket assembly has a basket extending from a base platform, and a gate system for releaseably securing a worker within the cage. The gate system includes a gate operatively mounted on a pivotable locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is opened by moving the gate in a rearward direction at an angle to a plane defined by the base platform and thereafter pivoting the gate about a hinge mechanism to an open position.

  • Patent number: 6401864
Abstract: A stabilizing system includes at least one outrigger assembly. Each outrigger assembly has a pivotable first leg operably connected to a second leg. At least one locking mechanism is operatively mounted to the pivotable first leg and the second leg. At least one sensing mechanism is connected to the first leg for detecting when the first and second legs are in a stabilized position.

  • Patent number: 6273435
Abstract: A trailer for use in transporting a load from one area to another area has a frame and a bed operatively mounted to the frame which is capable of being moved from a first or lowered position to a second or elevated position in a substantially vertical manner or nontilting manner. At least one lifting mechanism is operatively connected to the bed, which applies the greatest force for lifting the bed from the lowered position to the elevated position at the beginning of the lift, rather than at an end or midpoint of the lift. At least one over-center latching mechanism secures the bed to the frame when the bed is in the elevated position.

  • Patent number: 6000495
Abstract: A scaffolding system having a first frame connected to a second frame with at least one platform disposed therebetween. The first frame includes a first set of posts connected together by an upper cross member. The second frame includes a second set of posts connected together by a lower cross member. The platform is adapted to be detachably secured to the upper cross member and sandwiched between the upper cross member and the lower cross member such that an upper surface of the lower cross member is generally flush with the platform, thus forming a continuous walking surface. The lower cross member prevents removal of the platform while the second frame is connected to the first frame.

  • Patent number: 5022490
Abstract: A safety base is provided for a scaffold. The scaffold has casters so that it can be moved periodically at the job site. The safety base has two components, each consisting of an elongate bar with adjustable safety legs near the ends, along with detachable locks for readily attaching the component to frame members of the scaffolding. Feet of the legs are positioned near the supporting surface so that if the casters encounter a depression as the scaffold is being moved, the feet will engage the surface and the scaffold will not tilt excessively.

  • Patent number: 4825976
Abstract: A scaffolding platform is provided which is stronger and more resistant to damage. The platform includes two longitudinally-extending parallel rails and transverse, parallel cross rails affixed at least to end portions of the longitudinal rails. Mounting hooks for mounting the platforms on scaffold frames are affixed to end portions of the longitudinal rails by fasteners which are located on both sides of one of the transverse rails for each hook, there preferably being four fasteners for each hook. One end of each of the transverse rails has a notch to straddle the body of one of the mounting hooks between its two pair of fasteners.

  • Patent number: 4484663
Abstract: A portable personnel platform lift is provided, having a base mast or section and a plurality of extendible, nesting masts or sections with a personnel platform on the upper section. The extendible sections are constructed with nesting side rails which are identical in size and shape. This reduces the inventory of materials required and also facilitates fabrication of the components of the lift. The base and extendible sections have adjustable greaseless guide blocks to eliminate periodic lubrication and dirty rails. The plaform and the extendible sections also are designed to enable a worker to enter the platform from the floor without a ladder when the platform is in the lowest position.
