Abstract: A system and method for material handling are disclosed. The system includes a platform for receiving a plurality of articles, a plurality of sorting bins that each correspond to an article type, an object recognition system for identifying the article on the platform and categorizing the article by a specific article type, and an article engagement assembly. The object recognition system includes a 3D detector for detecting the article and a database containing data on characteristics of article types. The 3D detector is arranged to capture at least one two-dimensional image, and at least one depth image of the article. The article engagement assembly engages and delivers the article to the corresponding sorting bin. The object recognition system is arranged to identify the article based upon the data within the database and instructs the article engagement assembly to engage and place the article in the sorting bin.

Abstract: A device for washing articles includes a pre-wash section for the removal of particles from the articles, a wash section for the removal of residue from the articles, a pre-wash conveyor for conveying the articles in the pre-wash section, and a wash conveyor for conveying articles in the wash section. The pre-wash conveyor and the wash conveyors are separate with the pre-wash conveyor terminating at the commencement of the wash conveyor, and the articles are transferred from the pre-wash conveyor to the wash conveyor.

Abstract: A media scrubbing system includes a pair of rotating brushes arranged to rotate in opposed directions and receive media between the rotating brushes so as to scrub downwards on opposed surfaces of the media. The system includes oscillating rollers for supporting the media between the brushes. The oscillating rollers are arranged to reciprocally move vertically so as to oscillate the media as the brushes are rotating.

Abstract: A cleaning system comprising a tank having a wash area arranged to receive an article for cleaning; an inlet assembly mounted to a first end of the tank, through which a cleaning medium flows into the wash area; an outlet assembly having a flow control plate mounted to a second end of the tank; the flow control plate having a plurality of apertures and arranged such that the cleaning medium flows from the wash area through the apertures; the flow control plate arranged such that a total outlet area of the tank is equal to a sum of areas of the apertures; wherein the proportion of the total outlet area about the flow control plate is inversely proportional to a depth of the tank.
