  • Patent number: 11682133
Abstract: A device that is capable of determining its relative position with regard to another device. The device accomplishes this by receiving and analyzing two sets of information emitted by the device whose unique identifier and relative position is to be determined. The first set of information received by the device includes a structured light pattern with a known geometric configuration reflected off a surface in view of both devices. The second set of information received by the device includes a digital communication signal that encodes the unique identifier of the emitting device. Both sets of information may be transmitted on a free space optical communication channel that can be non-directed and non-line of sight.

  • Patent number: 11644191
Abstract: A motion sensor for detection motion of humans is provided. The motion sensor contains a near infrared (NIR) low resolution image sensor that captures image frames in the near infrared spectrum and a sensor that detects the amount of visible light. In addition, a processor is connected to the visible light sensor and the NIR motion sensor. The processor is configured to receive the amount of visible light from the visible light sensor and the images from the NIR low resolution image sensor. The processor is further configured to compare the image frames to detect motion; the sensitivity of the detection of motion is determined by the amount of visible light detected by the visible light sensor. The output has two or modes based on the detection of motion by the processor.

Abstract: A system and a method for automatically creating and operating a functional association of multiple devices is proposed. The system consists of two or more devices that each contain one or more sensors, logic processing circuitry and communication circuitry that is able to transmit messages on a free space optical or radio frequency communication channel The set of devices that constitute the members of a functional association is selected from a larger set of candidate devices. The selection process involves each device performing analysis of the historic sensor data received from all candidate devices against specific evaluation criteria. The evaluation criteria is based on a probabilistic model that predicts the effectiveness of a possible functional association in accomplishing a joint task. Devices whose historic data indicate that they have high degree of effectiveness of achieving a task if they operate in unison will become members of the same functional association.
