Abstract: A method of manufacturing a bath sponge includes rolling each of a plurality of discrete lengths of flexible mesh-netting tube into a discrete substantially doughnut shaped band, each band bounding a central opening. Each band is stretched on a support structure so that the central opening of each band is at least partially aligned. Each of the bands are secured together at a first location and at a second location. Finally, the bands are released from the support structure so that the bands rebound into a substantially spherical bath sponge bounding a central pocket.
Abstract: Sponge assemblies include a substantially spherical mesh sponge having an element of loofah secured thereto. In one embodiment, the element of loofah includes a substantially flat disk including an outer layer of loofah, an inner layer of loofah, and a reinforcing layer disposed therebetween. In another embodiment, the element of loofah includes a block of uncompressed natural loofah.

Abstract: A sponge assembly includes an elongated handle having a first end and an opposing second end. A mesh sponge is secured at the first end of the handle. Disposed between the first end of the handle and the second end of the handle is a hinge assembly. The hinge assembly enables moving of the handle between a folded position and an unfolded position. Formed on a joint of the hinge assembly is a notch. A latch is slidably mounted on the handle. At least a portion of the latch is configured to be slidably received within the notch on the hinge joint when the handle is in the unfolded position so as to lock the handle in the unfolded position.
Abstract: A method is provided for manufacturing bath ruffles or sponges. The method includes radially stretching over spaced upright supports one or more lengths of resilient extruded polymeric netting tube to form a telescopically gathered continuous band around the supports. A loop securing device is then positioned around opposed portions of the band centrally between the upright supports such that the opposed portions of the band are securely held together. Opposed portions of the telescopically gathered continuous band are then progressively released separately over respective upper ends of the spaced supports to form a generally spherical bath ruffle or sponge.

Abstract: A method and assembly is provided for use in marketing and supplying liquid soap for use with mesh bath sponges includes a substantial sperical mesh body formed from a polymeric netting material. A cord loop is attached and extends from the mesh body. A flexible pouch housing liquid soap is secured to the cord loop such that those who purchase the mesh sponge are enticed to use the liquid soap.
