  • Publication number: 20070113968
Abstract: A method for producing an interior trim part in a vehicle having a decorative layer of leather, wherein the fiber structure of the leather is fixed by undercooling or by a fixing agent at least along a desired weakened line before the weakened line is produced by a laser and for the duration of the laser treatment. The leather comprises a dermis having an underside and a top skin having a decorative side. The weakened line is preferably formed by a series of perforations.

  • Patent number: 7102118
Abstract: The invention is directed to a beam-shaping unit for generating a beam bundle which is focused in a punctiform manner, propagates in a ring shape, and has a radiationless central area, comprising a focusing lens, a first axicon and a second axicon, and to an arrangement with a beam-shaping unit of this kind for introducing radiation energy into a workpiece comprising weakly absorbent material which is arranged between a first resonator mirror and a second resonator mirror. The first resonator mirror which is arranged in front of the workpiece in the radiating direction is located in the radiationless central area. The radiation energy can be absorbed to the maximum extent by repeatedly passing through the same interaction volume in the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 7000942
Abstract: A method for introducing a line of weakening with a low opening resistance in an airbag cover, comprising a substrate layer, a foamed material layer and a decorative layer in which a row of pocket holes s generated by laser radiation, wherein, alternately, first groups of pocket holes with a length a and with a quantity x of shallow pocket holes are generated only in the substrate material and second groups of pocket holes with a length b and with a quantity y of deep pocket holes are generated through the substrate material and through the foamed material layer into the decorative layer, and the foamed material layer is retained in the area of the first groups of pocket holes as a supporting layer.

  • Patent number: 6841034
Abstract: A device for welding a plurality of thermoplastic plastic parts (parts to be joined) forming a hollow body with an opening by a laser, comprising a vacuum holder having a vacuum chamber which communicates with a vacuum pump, is open on one side and, together with the hollow body, forms a closed chamber that can be evacuated. When a vacuum is applied, the vacuum holder holds the hollow body stationary, holds the joined parts together and enables testing of the tightness of the weld.

  • Patent number: 6727463
Abstract: An arrangement for machining workpieces by a laser, particularly for cutting, perforating, notching, engraving, drilling and inscribing workpieces with three-dimensional structures of different sizes. The laser beam is directed to the workpiece, which is fixed on a holding device, by means of a robot-guided articulated mirror arm and a laser scanner. The laser beam is guided by a coordinated time-controlled and position-controlled deflection of the articulated mirror arm and of the mirror elements of the laser scanner.

  • Patent number: 6649866
Abstract: The invention is directed to a tool head for machining of materials by laser, substantially comprising focusing optics which are arranged in a housing and through which a laser beam bundle is directed to the workpiece surface to be machined, a nozzle which coaxially surrounds the optical axis of the laser beam bundle and conducts gas in the beam direction in order to prevent contamination of the focusing optics by particles released on the workpiece surface to be machined, a pipe which coaxially surrounds the nozzle and which likewise conducts gas for preventing contamination of the nozzle, and a suction device with suction nozzles.

  • Publication number: 20030198756
Abstract: A method for working a parting agent layer applied to a substrate material, in which the parting agent layer is acted upon by the radiation energy of a TEA CO2 laser, so that the parting agent layer is heated at least partly to above the destruction temperature of the parting agent and the parting agent therefore loses its parting properties. The substrate material can be particularly a glass forming a vehicle window or a glass powder coat or rubber applied to a window.
