Abstract: A wound dressing, which is easy to apply in very few steps, the dressing having a thin film section surrounded by a thicker outside border section. The border section provides rigidity to the dressing by virtue of being thicker than the inner thin film portion of the dressing. The wound dressing has a film on one side of the dressing layer and a release sheet on a skin-contacting side of the dressing layer.

Abstract: A wound dressing having a dressing layer covered by backing layer on one side. The opposite side is a skin-contacting surface covered by a first release sheet and a second release sheet. The first release sheet is folded into an area that covers the dressing layer in a first release sheet region. The other side of the fold provides a pull tab area that permits removal of the first release sheet from the dressing layer. The second release sheet covers the skin-contacting surface in a second release sheet region.

The adhesive composition comprises a highly water-absorbable material (e.g. hydrocolloid), an acrylic adhesive and a tackifier. The composition provides extended stay-on capabilities. The composition also provides an adhesive that is removed from the skin with little pain to the on the skin.

Abstract: A wound dressing having a metallic compound as an anti-microbial agent. The dressing includes a dressing layer that contacts a patient's skin at the wound bed. The composition of the dressing layer includes metallic compounds in which metallic ions, such as silver, are maintained in the dressing composition. The metallic compound is combined with a hydrocolloid adhesive to provide a highly absorbing dressing. As exudate is absorbed, contact with the metallic ions provides the anti-microbial effect. The metallic ions may be maintained in compounds such as zeolite and hydroxyl apatite mixed with a hydrocolloid adhesive.

Abstract: The invention provides compositions suitable for use as a wound dressings for blisters, corns and calluses or as fixation adhesives, especially for breast prostheses, ostomy devices and male incontinence devices, and the like. In preferred embodiments, the composition comprises an elastomer, optionally a hydrocolloid, a hydrocarbon resin tackifier, a non-polar oily extender and no more than about 0.1 weight percent of an antioxidant.
