Abstract: A container for storing and dispensing loose powder has a jar, a multitiered sifting-dispenser, a dispenser slot, and a closure plug. The multitiered sifting dispenser is a rigid frustum-shaped divider that separates an interior cavity of the jar into two compartments. The dispenser slot traverses from a first compartment to a second compartment by passing through the multitiered sifting-dispenser. As a result, cosmetic powder that is stored in the first compartment can be dispensed into the second compartment and subsequently deposited onto the multitiered sifting dispenser. The closure plug serves to plug the dispenser slot. To accomplish this, the closure plug is held into place by the jar lid.
Abstract: A cosmetic compact comprises a cover member having front and rear side edges. The cover member has a flat top surface and a recessed bottom surface having a lowered periphery with a downwardly projecting front extension and a first adjacent front opening. A base member has front and rear side edges, a flat bottom surface and a recessed horizontal top surface with a raised periphery. The raised periphery has a front slot with a second adjacent front opening. The base member has in its top surface an elongated recess spaced from the remaining portion of the top surface which communicates with the second adjacent opening. A hinge secures the rear edges of the cover and base members together. The front slot receives the front extension and the second adjacent opening meets the first adjacent opening to form a combined larger opening when the two members are closed, thereby closing the compact.
Abstract: A single individually molded plastic unit comprises a base member having two opposite side edges with a flat bottom surface and an open top surface having a raised continuous periphery. A cover member has the same shape and two side edges as the base member, and also has a top surface and an open bottom surface having a raised continuous periphery. One side edge of the cover member is secured to one side edge of the base member by a living hinge. A catch is detachably engageable with the bottom surface of the cover member and is supported by an external projection secured to the opposite side edge of the base member. Inward movement of the projection toward the base member releases the catch engagement and allows the cover member to be pivoted about the living hinge away from the base member.
Abstract: A cosmetics compact having mechanism for producing an audible sound to indicate when the compact is completely closed, the compact being opened and closed by slidably rotating the cover and the base in relation to one another.
Abstract: A compact or other container creates, when closed, an airtight closure for holding, storing or packaging material, such as cosmetics. The cap of the container screws onto the jar portion of the container via complementary threads, but the cap is permanently connected to the jar by a collar which allows the cap to freely rotate. The cap of the container contains a liner which is forced against the lip of the jar, thereby forming an airtight seal. Also disclosed is a compact or other container which need not have an airtight closure but with a cap that is permanently connected to the jar.
