Abstract: A hypodermic needle guard designed to avoid needle sticks comprising a hand shield in the form of a flat plate with a flexible, tubular needle cap holder connected about a hole in the plate's center. Needle cap-enclosed hypodermic needles attached to medical appliances such as syringes, are inserted through the hole into the holder, where the user grasps the cap through the holder tube by compressing the tube with finger pressure. The needle attached to the appliance is then withdrawn. The process is reversed to safely recap the hyperdermic needle.
