  • Patent number: 6490817
Abstract: A file folder label for use on file folders having an exposed tiered edge is provided having a unitary label portion with at least one major and at least one minor tier section. The major tier section or sections and minor tier section or sections are provided to correspond with a major tier or tiers and a minor tier or tiers presented on the exposed edge of the file folder to which the tier file folder label is to be attached. The major and minor tier sections of the folder label are partially separable such that the major and minor tier sections can be partially separated and individually manipulated to conform to the corresponding tier on the file folder. Additionally, cut-out windows are provided on the folder label and help to partially separate major and minor tier sections. These windows also help in the alignment of the folder label when applying it to a file folder.

  • Patent number: 6145883
Abstract: A filing system based on an alpha numeric system in which the numeric portion is based upon birth dates and the alphabetic portion on the names of the individuals within the filing system. A label has color coded areas thereon corresponding to the birth date of an individual, and a color coded label designating the initial of the last name of the individual. A second label bears the individual name. The labels are placed upon a file folder which is then placed into a filing system broken into main sets and subsets. The main sets are arranged chronologically according to the date, while the subsets within each set are arranged alphabetically as a function of the individual's surname.

  • Patent number: 6056377
Abstract: A dual-slant file holder for angularly directing file folders in two directions. The dual-slant file holder has a front face, a base for carrying a slanted support surface and a pair of parallel side panels, wherein the angle between the slanted support surface and the base is between 5.degree. and 40.degree., and wherein the angle between the pair of parallel side panels and the front face is between 5.degree. and 40.degree.. By holding a file folder within the dual-slant file holder any marking indicia disposed on the file folder is easily visualized by a clerk and can be easily removed and reinserted.

  • Patent number: 5797665
Abstract: A file holder for holding a plurality of file folders, wherein a support surface and a plurality of perpendicularly extending side panels have a hemmed support edge and a hemmed panel edges, respectively. The hemmed support edge and the hemmed panel edges provide structural strength to the file holder while providing a file opening which has increased space for the easy insertion and extraction of file folder and a file holder with relatively smooth surfaces that do not catch or tear the file folders. The file holder also has a plurality of dividers which are secured to the support surface and a back wall and which provide additional structural support when a file holder is stacked on another file holder or other shelving. The file holders are constructed with attachment holes and nesting members so that multiple file holders can be stacked on one another. The support surface may also include a file retainer that is substantially perpendicular to the front edge of the file folder.

  • Patent number: 4520055
Abstract: The invention comprises a novel design for a label which can be applied to the edge of a folder, card, or other substrate. A paper face stock secured to a flexible film coating and having a pressure sensitive adhesive is provided with a plurality of cuts in parallel array. The cuts allow the label to be applied to a substrate having a substantial thickness without resulting in the wrinkling which would normally occur absent the cuts. A process for cutting the face stock consists of the use of a cutting disk having a plurality of edges. Substrates having a variety of thicknesses can be accommodated.
