Abstract: A glass slumping process includes the steps of supporting a thin sheet of glass upon a convex mold at a single, minimum area of contact of the glass sheet with the mold, the single area of contact being disposed inwardly of a perimeter of the glass sheet, heating the glass sheet to soften the glass sheet, slumping the glass sheet downwardly over a convex outer surface of the mold in response to the heating, while the glass sheet remains supported by the mold at the single area of contact, cooling the glass sheet and removing the glass sheet from the mold for use as a lamp shade.
