Patent number: 11707699Abstract: Various systems, apparatus, and methods used to remove solids from water are provided. A plate assembly for a plate settler assembly is provided which includes a plate body with a plate body thickness. The plate assembly also includes a first support plate attached to the plate body on a first axis extending between the first and second end of the plate body. The plate assembly may further include a second support plate attached to the plate body on a second axis extending between the first and second end. The plate assembly may also include a stiffener or a central stiffener attached to the plate body on a third axis. The plate assembly may still further include a flow control plate along the first end. The thickness of the support plates, stiffener, and flow control plate are greater than the plate body thickness. A corresponding method of manufacture is provided.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2022Date of Patent: July 25, 2023Assignee: JIM MYERS & SONS, INC.Inventors: Timothy E. Krell, Kerry E. Dissinger

Patent number: 9764257Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are described herein. An example embodiment may include a balanced diagonal sludge removal assembly configured for use in a basin, the balanced diagonal sludge removal assembly including a discharge pipe, a collection pipe configured to slideably receive the discharge pipe, one or more header pipes extending from the collection pipe to define a first sludge communication path between the one or more header pipes and the collection pipe, and one or more balancing diagonals extending between the collection pipe and the one or more header pipes to define a second sludge communication path between the one or more header pipes and the collection pipe, wherein the one or more balancing diagonals balance flow distribution throughout the one or more header pipes.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2016Date of Patent: September 19, 2017Assignee: Jim Myers & Sons, Inc.Inventor: Kerry Dissinger

Patent number: 9433905Abstract: A cascade aerator comprising a plurality of longitudinal channels that receive a fluid therethrough. The longitudinal channels are in fluid communication with a plurality of flow control gates, such that a first number of flow control gates are in fluid communication with a first longitudinal channel and a second number of flow control gates are in fluid communication with a second longitudinal channel. The first number of flow control gates may define a crest height that is lower, along a vertical direction, than a crest height defined by the second number of flow control gates. The flow control gates may define a crest length proximate a crest of the flow control gate and a nappe length defined proximate a first height above the crest. The nappe length may be greater than the crest length. The aerator may have a plurality of low head baffles.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2014Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Assignee: Jim Myers & Sons, Inc.Inventors: Kerry Edward Dissinger, Timothy Webster Gunnels

Patent number: 7850860Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention are directed to a plate settler comprising: a plurality of plates, each plate defining a first end, a second end, and a settling surface there between; a plurality of angular support members extending from and structurally supporting the first ends of respective ones of the plurality of plates, each angular support member defining a first lateral flow encouraging surface and a second lateral flow encouraging surface; and a plurality of headloss control gaps defined by the plurality of angular support members. The first lateral flow encouraging surface of each angular support member may combine with the second lateral flow encouraging surface of an adjacent angular support member to define a generally v-shaped lateral flow channel.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2009Date of Patent: December 14, 2010Assignee: Jim Myers & Sons, Inc.Inventors: Kerry Dissinger, David Myers
