Patents Assigned to Jim Walter Corporation
  • Patent number: 4507197
Abstract: An apparatus and dry method for de-shotting shot-containing mineral wool fibers wherein the fibers are treated in a granulator to compact them into entangled nodules, and the nodules are passed through an air classifier to open up and de-shot them. In a preferred embodiment, a felted layer of mineral wool is subjected to a first granulation step to divide the layer into a multiplicity of lightly compacted nodules which are then partially de-shotted, and the partially de-shotted nodules are subjected to a second granulation step to more tightly compact the nodules before they are introduced into the air classifier.

  • Patent number: 4170090
Abstract: This invention relates to a weather strip and balance assembly for a window of a tilt sash type. The assembly includes a mounting plate for mounting the balance assembly thereon with a weather strip being clipped thereto and supporting the sash in a sliding and sealing manner. The weather strip has a pair of curved supporting ridges which mount the sash at conventional grooved surfaces along the stiles of the same and a recessed divider portion between the curved ridges in the weather strip provides for mounting and movement of the coupling pins which connect the balance assemblies to the sash and permit tilt of the sash on the weather strip. The mounting members on the sash for coupling the pins thereto provide mating keyed surfaces such that the pins rotate with the sash. These mounting members also include guide surfaces which couple the sash in a closed position and include the provision of a sweep lock member to secure the sash in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 4079549
Abstract: This invention relates to a balance spring lock for tilt out windows in which the balance spring is positioned in the jamb channel and connected through a sash cord to a block member and to the frame. The sash cord is directed over a sheave and either through an aperture in the block or guided along the surface of the block to be clamped against the block or within the block upon rotation of a shaft member therein coupled through a pin to the sash. The clamping action takes place through an eccentric surface on the shaft member through a cam follower operated by the shaft member, or through a pivoted lever attached to the shaft member. All variations of the clamping action operate with rotation of the shaft member caused by tilt of the window.

  • Patent number: 4068406
Abstract: A side camming balance spring lock adapted to be slidably mounted in a jamb channel of a window frame which incorporates slidably mounted camming members in the side of the same operated through flat and curved surfaces on a shaft to effect the locking action. The shaft includes a notch in which the connecting pin for the sash is positioned to effect rotation of the shaft on tilt out of the sash for the locking function. A removable plug closes an aperture in the lock above the shaft notch in which the balance spring connection is positioned. Removal of the plug permits removal of the sash from the lock as well as the disconnection of the balance spring therefrom.
