    Abstract: An electrical connector device for use with a pyrotechnic ignition apparatus having a magazine for igniting a plurality of devices in an array in an ignition sequence includes a plastic tube mounted in a metal cap casing to which first and second electrically isolated terminals are attached, the terminals being located in the tube chamber and extending to the casing exterior. A wire is connected to each terminal at one wire end and to a terminal attached to a plastic end cap at an end of the plastic tube opposite the metal casing. The end cap is attached to a further tube mounted telescopically inside the plastic tube. A connector is attached to the end cap terminals. The connector device is of generally the same construction at its casing terminals as the pyrotechnic devices so as to be placed in the magazine in place of a pyrotechnic device and responsive to a generated ignition signal. A remote pyrotechnic device is attached by a cable to the end cap connector.

    Abstract: A plurality of targets comprise two spaced metal screens secured in electrical isolation. A voltage is applied to the screens such that when the screens are shorted by a penetrating metal projectile, a pulse is produced having a pulse duration representing a particular type of projectile according to the length of the projectile. A logic circuit including a counter produces a count signal representing the pulse duration and applies this count signal to a CPU which compares the count signal to stored time intervals to produce a projectile identifying signal which is applied to a LCD display for describing the type of projectile hitting the target. A target signal generator generates a signal representing any one of the targets hit in response to a hit on that one target and supplies that signal to the CPU which generates a display signal identifying the target descriptively.

    Abstract: A cylindrical metal end cap is formed over one end of a thermoplastic tubular casing. A pyrotechnic detonator is ohmically connected to the end cap via an aperture thereof and includes an electrically activated match. The detonator is soldered to the end cap with a solder ring simultaneously with the insertion of the detonator into the end cap aperture to form a hermetic seal. A thermoplastic end cap is heat welded to the other end of the casing to hermetically seal the pyrotechnic material within the casing. The heat welding occurs at the outer surface of the casing and at a temperature lower than the ignition temperature of the pyrotechnic material in the casing. The position of the match within the casing is selected to cause the pyrotechnic material to burn toward the metal end cap to enhance flash production, different length casings producing different flash intensities.

    Abstract: A first terminal extends from the central region of a circular cylindrical contact body. A thermoplastic tube is heat shrunk over the cylindrical surface of the body with a leader protruding from an end of the body. The assembly is press fitted into the bore of a circular cylindrical metal sleeve. The interference fit between the parts causes the plastic tube to stretch and compress holding the parts in clamped relation. The leader prevents the plastic tube from slipping out of the joint during the sliding assembly action. A second terminal extends from the sleeve which is in ohmic contact with a metal casing of a pyrotechnic device. An electrically activated match has its electrodes welded to and between the terminals.

The outer faces of the webs have bonded thereto sheets of the foamed cellular polypropylene. The wire screens are electrically connected to a resistance responsive network whose output is a relatively wide pulse which is coupled to a recording device.
