Abstract: A coaxial connector comprises a swivel member defining a central axis and having first and second opposing ends. The first end having an outer and an inner surface and a threaded region for threadingly engaging the first end of the swivel member with a matching threaded portion of a mating component. A main body having first and second opposing body ends and a central bore defining a longitudinal axis which is coaxial with the central axis of the swivel member. The first body end having an outer cylindrical surface, a centre conductor extending along the longitudinal axis and a nut having a central aperture defining an inner surface and first and second opposing side walls. The first side wall being adapted to slidingly engage and abut the mating component and an inner inclining surface region.
Abstract: A coaxial cable connector comprising a connector body, a tubular inner post configured to receive a coaxial cable and a clamping member, whereby at least one surface of the coaxial cable connector is coated with microcapsules creating an adhesive material. An adhesive layer is pre-applied to defined components of the coaxial cable connector in their pre-assembled configuration to avoid increased labor for the connector installer and to ensure a minimal but uniform layer of the microencapsulated adhesive is present on the desired connector components. When the coaxial cable is inserted into and clamped within the coaxial cable connector, the microcapsules are ruptured by the resulting pressure. This results in an adhesive bond forming between the coaxial cable and the connector to create a secure, mechanical bond and moisture seal.
Abstract: The present invention incorporates a flexible seal into a typical coaxial cable connector. The seal comprises a flexible brim, a transition band, and a tubular insert with an insert chamber defined within the seal. In a first embodiment the flexible brim is angled away from the insert chamber, and in a second embodiment the flexible brim is angled inward toward the insert chamber. A flange end of the seal makes a compliant contact between the port and connector faces when the nut of a connector is partially tightened, and becomes sandwiched firmly between the ground surfaces when the nut is properly tightened. The present invention allows the connector to make a uniform RF seal on a port even with a range of tightening torques.
Abstract: An electrical connector for a multistranded insulator conductor cable having an elastomeric compression sleeve and a clamping member configured to compress radially inwardly against the cable as a compression member is axially advanced towards the connector body to secure the cable in the connector. The compression member assembly is configured to accommodate a variety of cable insulative sleeve thicknesses and center conductor gauges.
Abstract: A releasably engaging plug comprises a plug body having an extension, the outer surface of the extension having at least one projection thereon. The projection is configured to releasably engage at least one spring biased tab of a mating receptacle upon insertion of the extension into the receptacle. Engagement of the spring biased tab with the projection increases the mechanical friction fit between the mating components.
Abstract: An insulator for coaxial cable connectors, the insulator is disposed within a coaxial cable connector and contains an insulator passageway. The insulator has a guide surface at one end. As the prepared end of a coaxial cable is inserted into the insulator passageway, the guide surface engages the dielectric of the cable and radially diverts the conductive foil sheath away from the center conductor of the cable.
