Abstract: A multi-conductor cable connector comprising a connector engagement portion including: a rotatable outer housing, a threaded insert radially disposed within the outer housing, wherein the threaded insert has a slot therethrough, a key feature integral with the rotatable outer housing, the key feature configured to fit within the slot of the threaded insert, and a plurality of electrical contacts, wherein rotational movement of the rotatable housing is translated to axial movement of the threaded insert to securably engage a matingly corresponding multi-conductor cable connector. A multi-conductor cable connection pair is also provided. Furthermore, an associated method is also provided.
Abstract: A conductive tape for a coaxial cable with a metal layer surrounding a visually contrasting polymer strength layer. In one example embodiment, a conductive tape for use in a coaxial cable includes an inner metal layer, an outer metal layer, and a polymer strength layer positioned between and adjacent to the inner and outer metal layers. The color or brightness of the polymer strength layer visually contrasts with the outer metal layer.
Abstract: A connector having a nut-body continuity element is provided, wherein the nut-body continuity element electrically couples a nut and a connector body, thereby establishing electrical continuity between the nut and the connector body. Furthermore, the nut-body continuity element facilitates grounding through the connector, and renders an electromagnetic shield preventing ingress of unwanted environmental noise.
Abstract: An apparatus can include a modem and a conditioning device can be provided and coupled at a signal transmission line of a CATV system at a premise of a user according to embodiments of the application. The apparatus can provide selected information (e.g., Table 1) upstream for use that can improve operations or increase capabilities at one or more users.

Abstract: A premise signal conditioning device is provided that can be inserted into a signal transmission line of a CATV system on a premise of a user. The device includes at least a first diplexer set, each diplexer set including a supplier side diplexer and a premise side diplexer creating a return path for an upstream bandwidth and a forward path for a downstream bandwidth there between. The device further includes a detector configured to measure a level of signals present in a first segment of frequencies between the upstream bandwidth and the downstream bandwidth. The device further includes a switch controller configured to alter a width of the return path from a first width to a second width in response to a level of the signals exceeding a predetermined threshold level.
Abstract: Managing impedance in coaxial cable termination. In one example embodiment, a method for terminating a coaxial cable is provided. The coaxial cable includes an inner conductor, an insulating layer surrounding the inner conductor, an outer conductor surrounding the insulating layer, and a jacket surrounding the outer conductor. The method includes various acts. First, a section of the insulating layer is cored out. Next, the diameter of the inner conductor that is positioned within the cored-out section is reduced. Then, at least a portion of an internal connector structure is inserted into the cored-out section so as to surround the section of reduced-diameter inner conductor. Finally, an external connector structure is affixed to the internal connector structure. A coaxial cable termination tool for use in the termination of a coaxial cable and a terminated coaxial cable are also disclosed.
Abstract: A compression connector for smooth walled, corrugated, and spiral corrugated coaxial cable includes an insulator disposed within the body, wherein the insulator contains a central opening therein which is dimensioned smaller than a collet portion which seizes a center conductor of the coaxial cable. The connector also includes a clamp disposed inside the body as well as a compression sleeve assembly. An intermediate connector element includes a transitional surface which interacts with the clamp. When an axial force is applied to the compression sleeve, the clamp is forced by the transitional surface into the body, causing the clamp to squeeze onto an outer conductor layer of the coaxial cable. At approximately the same time, the collet portion is forced through the central opening of the insulator, causing the collet portion to squeeze onto the center conductor.

Abstract: A coaxial cable connector includes a pin having a plurality of circumferentially spaced support arms, inward facing surfaces of the support arms defining a cavity. A shoulder is provided on the inward facing surfaces. A guide is axially received in the internal cavity, the guide having tabs at one and a radial flange at the other. An elastomeric cylindrical collar is disposed on the guide between the tabs and the flange. In a first position, the collar is axially uncompressed or axially partially compressed between the flange of the guide and the shoulders of the support arms. In a second position, the flange is positioned closer to the shoulders such that the collar is axially compressed between the flange and the shoulders to a shorter axial distance than in the first position and such that the collar is expanded radially outwardly to a greater amount than in the first position.
Abstract: An assembly for connecting a coaxial cable end to a threaded port and having a fitting to which an end of a coaxial cable can be connected. A nut, joined to the fitting, has a first set of threads and is turnable in a tightening direction around a central axis of the connecting assembly to progressively engage the first set of threads with a second set of threads on a port. The nut has an outer surface at which a first edge, facing circumferentially in a first direction, is defined. A sleeve surrounds the nut and has a body with a first reconfigurable finger extending in a circumferential direction and upon which a second edge, facing circumferentially oppositely to the first direction, is defined. The second edge is brought into bearing engagement with the first edge as the sleeve is turned in the tightening direction around the central axis so that the nut follows movement of the sleeve. The sleeve is movable continuously relative to the nut around the central axis in a loosening direction.
Abstract: A connector compression tool is provided wherein the tool includes a handle, pivotally moveable from a second position to a first position, a body, configured to compress together when the handle is moved to the first position, wherein the body includes at least two centering openings having different widths to accommodate differently configured connectors having different diameters and different lengths.
