Patents Assigned to John P. Glass
  • Patent number: 4537308
Abstract: A package comprising a cylindrical plastic tube closed at each end by an ultrasonic band seal. The seal at one end has a sealed region which is narrower than any portion of the other seal whereby squeezing of the package produces an immediate one-shot dispensing of liquid contained therein by causing rupture of the narrow region of the seal. Various package forms include perpendicularly arranged bands to provide a tetrahedral shape, a tab extending beyond one seal to provide identification of the contents of the package, notched seals providing a tear open package, and a multiple package construction in which one fluid containing tube is contained within another.

  • Patent number: 4363205
Abstract: A method of making a package having contents comprising the steps of taking a tube of flexible material having a top and a bottom end, ultrasonically sealing a bottom band seal across the tube, inserting the contents into the tube, and ultrasonically sealing an upper band seal across the tube at a location spaced away from the bottom end of the tube, with the contents contained between the upper and bottom band seals.

  • Patent number: 4205408
Abstract: A building element useful in constructing plastic boat hulls and methods of making the element. The building element includes a plurality of glass fibers in the form of roving which are substantially parallel to each other, a resin binding the glass fibers together, and a plastic sheet covering one or both sides. The building element may be continuously made by passing a plurality of strands of glass fiber roving through a perforated guide plate into a trough of resin formed by the bight of a pair of rollers, feeding a plastic sheet over each roller into said bight to protect the rollers from the resin and to form a sandwich structure with the resin impregnated strands of roving being enclosed within the plastic sheets, and cutting across the plastic sheets and resin impregnated glass strands at a desired angle to form a stamp element. The building element may also be made by passing glass fiber roving through a resin pot and winding the roving around a drum which is covered by a polyethylene sheet.

  • Patent number: 4048396
Abstract: A battery package for storing an electric battery in unactivated condition and for quickly activating the battery, comprising a tube of flexible material having first and second ends, a first seal extending transversely across the tube and closing the first end, a second seal extending transversely across the tube and closing the second end, a medial seal extending transversely across the tube at a location between the first and second end seals and forming a first chamber and a second chamber, an electrolyte contained within the first chamber, and a pair of electrodes mounted in the second end seal and extending into the second chamber, said medial seal sealing the electrolyte from the electrodes for storing the battery in unactivated condition, said medial seal being weaker than said first and second seals, whereby the battery may be activated by squeezing the tube to rupture the medial seal and transfer the electrolyte from the first chamber into the second chamber to make contact with the electrodes.

  • Patent number: 4006341
Abstract: Card comparing apparatus comprising spaced-apart side walls having facing grooves formed therein for receiving a first and a second card in parallel spaced relationship, each of said cards having a predetermined number of notches along its edges, said notches being varied as to depth, and apparatus for determining whether corresponding notches in the cards are of the same depth, said determining apparatus including pairs of vertically disposed probes in sliding contact with each other, said probes being electrically insulating except for an electric conductor vertically positioned in each probe so that said conductors make electrical contact when the probes are in alignment, a series of vertical slots formed in the spaced-apart side walls, said probes being positioned in said slots, springs urging the probes inwardly to enter the notches in said cards, and signal means actuated by said electrical conductors when all corresponding probes are in alignment to complete an electrical circuit.
