Patent number: 5207783Abstract: The present invention provides a one piece plastic closure of the type including a cap part, a tear band which is removable and an anchor band. A hinge member connects the anchor band to the cap part so that when the tear band is removed, the cap part can hinge relative to the anchor band. The anchor band is intended to be retained by the container to which the closure is applied by push fitting so that the anchor band cannot be removed from the container. The invention further provides weakened sections in the anchor band which will fracture if an attempt is made to pry the closure from the container without removal of the tear band, but which will remain intact when the closure is applied to the container by push fitting.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1988Date of Patent: May 4, 1993Assignee: Johnsen & Jorgensen Plastics LimitedInventor: George W. Burton

Patent number: 4631905Abstract: The bag making apparatus may have a bonding means for making bonded seams between webs of thermoplastic material. The bonding means includes first, second, and optionally third, sets of cooperating rotary or reciprocating, bonding members for making transverse and longitudinal seams. The apparatus includes seaming interrupting means which cooperates with one of the bonding means. The bonding means and interrupting means are arranged to cooperate together to form bags from the webs of thermoplastic material so that each bag has a sealed or sealable compartment for containing or containing a material for mixing, a pocket for measuring, and having a mouth opening between the interrupted seams, and a frangible barrier between the compartment and the pocket.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1985Date of Patent: December 30, 1986Assignee: Johnsen, Jorgensen, Jaypak, Ltd.Inventor: John Maloney

Patent number: 4597500Abstract: A container closure has a cap part which can be removed from and replaced upon an associated container as required and a tamper evident tear band which has to be removed from the closure before the cap part can be initially removed from the container. The tear band is connected to the skirt of the cap part by a number of spaced apart relatively strong frangible nibs, the spaces between the nibs being each filled by a relatively weak thin web of material.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1985Date of Patent: July 1, 1986Assignee: Johnsen & Jorgensen (Plastics) Ltd.Inventor: Peter Stubbs

Patent number: 4567992Abstract: This invention provides a tubular container body and closure assembly with a smooth or flush outside surface. The assembly is provided with bayonet type child resistant closure and tear away tamper resistant band. The container body has a recess to receive a teartab on the tear away band so that the flush outside surface is maintained, the recess in the body being so positioned that when the tear tab is aligned with the recess an internal bead on the closure forming part of the bayonet type locking arrangement is aligned with an external locking slot on the body so that the closure can be applied to the body by a longitudinal downward movement.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1984Date of Patent: February 4, 1986Assignee: Johnsen & Jorgensen (Plastics) LimitedInventor: Eugene E. Patent number: 4566602Abstract: The invention provides a container closure with a top, a skirt depending from the top, a tear-away tamper resistant band connected to the skirt by frangible means and a tear tab on the band arranged so that it is inclined upwardly and outwardly in order to ensure that when a container with a closure in position is being packed into a carbon bottom end first the tear tab on the closures does not catch on the rim of the carton. Preferably the tear tab is connected by a frangible tongue to a thumb push on the skirt and disposed immediately above the tear tab.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1984Date of Patent: January 28, 1986Assignee: Johnsen & Jorgensen (Plastics) LimitedInventor: Eugene E. Patent number: 4557377Abstract: A bag suitably for mixing has a compartment, a pocket in the bag having a mouth opening so that either it can be filled with liquid to a predetermined volume or it can receive a dispensing member. The pocket is easily ruptured when the mouth is closed and, when mixing, a volume of liquid may be discharged into the compartment for mixing with a material in the compartment. During mixing the walls of the pocket abut to serve as a non-return valve in the bag.Apparatus for making the bags includes web bonding means, feeding means to feed film of waterproof thermoplastics material from rolls to the bonding means, and interrupting means to form the mouth in the pocket. The apparatus may form bags with open bottoms for insertion of the material for mixing and subsequent closure or sealed, filled bags.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1983Date of Patent: December 10, 1985Assignee: Johnsen & Jorgensen Jaypak LimitedInventor: John Maloney
