Abstract: A device for applying a composition to a skin of a face includes an end effector having a base portion and a protruding portion extending distally from the base portion. The protruding portion has a distal opening. The device also includes a detector arrangement obtaining image data corresponding to an image of an area of the skin through the distal opening and an applicator arrangement applying the composition to a location within the area. The device further includes a processing arrangement receiving and analyzing the image data to determine whether the applicator is aimed to safely dispense the composition to the area and whether a frexel within the area corresponds to a skin artifact, and directing the applicator to selectively apply the composition to the frexel when the applicator is aimed to safely dispense the composition to the area and the skin artifact is detected from the frexel.
Abstract: An epidermal tridimensional model exhibiting differentiating keratinocytes in a reconstituted stratum corneum model is disclosed. The model, which contains a cancer therapeutic at an amount effective to simulate chronic drug exposure, can be used to evaluate the potential of cancer therapeutics to produce skin related side effects. The method can also be used to evaluate the efficacy of a composition in reducing the effects of cancer therapeutics on skin.

Abstract: A container closure can include a collar, an actuator, and a biasing element. The collar can be configured to couple to a container. The collar can have a container facing surface and a second surface opposite the container facing surface. The actuator can be movable relative to the collar from a first position to a second position. The actuator can be in fluid communication with a cavity defined by the container such that the actuator dispenses material out of the container as the actuator moves from the first position to the second position. The biasing element can have a first portion coupled to the actuator and a second portion coupled to the second surface of the collar, the biasing element configured to bias the actuator toward the first position.

Abstract: A system and kit for measuring analyte concentration in a bodily fluid include a durable component, at least one indicator component including an indicator zone, and at least one moisture sensor. The kit has multiple individually packaged indicator components. Methods of measuring analyte concentration in bodily fluids include the steps of collecting and transporting bodily fluid to at least one colorimetric analyte sensing element and detecting the presence of bodily fluid in contact with the at least one colorimetric analyte sensing element, collecting optical data relating to the at least one colorimetric analyte sensing element with at least one spectrophotometer after a predetermined time period after detecting the presence of bodily fluid, communicating the optical data to a computing system having at least one processor and data storage, and analyzing the optical data to determine at least one analyte concentration in the bodily fluid.

Abstract: A device and method for selectively applying a composition to a treatment surface (e.g., skin) to alter an aesthetic appearance of the skin in the undereye region of the face. The device includes an applicator applying the composition to the skin, and a detector obtaining image data corresponding to an image of an area of skin. The device generates a target reflectance value based on the image data and past image data. The target reflectance value is higher than reflectance of at least half of areas corresponding to the image data and past image data. The device determines a desired level of reflectance modification for a location within the area of skin imaged by comparing image data corresponding to reflectance of the location to the target reflectance value, and directs the applicator to selectively apply the composition to the location based on the desired level of reflectance modification.
Abstract: Sulfate-free cleansing compositions that include a surfactant and a conditioning agent are disclosed. The cleansing compositions are suitably thick and have a desired level of clarity. The cleansing compositions, which are slightly acidic, are mild to the skin and/or eyes.

Abstract: Methods and compositions are provided for treating weight related conditions and metabolic disorders by altering microbiota in a subject. One aspect provides methods and compositions to alter microbiota in a subject by administering to the subject a composition that includes a substantially purified microbiota from phyla such as Bacteroidetes, Proteobacteria, Firmicutes and Verrucomicrobia or orders such as Bacteroidales, Verrucomicrobiales, Clostridiales and Enterobacteriales or genera such as Alistipes, Clostridium, Escherichia, and Akkermansia. Another aspect includes a pharmaceutical composition for altering microbiota that includes a therapeutically effective amount of substantially purified microbiota and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Yet another aspect includes methods for treating a disorder, such as obesity, in a subject in need of such treatment by changing relative abundance of microbiota in a gastrointestinal tract of the subject without or in addition to a surgical procedure.
