Patents Assigned to Johnstone Pump Company
  • Patent number: 5487781
Abstract: A mastic applicator system for delivering a mastic material to a surface in a precisely controlled manner. The system includes a mastic pump, a regulator receiving the mastic from the pump, a nozzle, and a jacketed hose assembly interconnecting the regulator output and the nozzle input. The hose assembly includes an end block having a flat sealing surface, and the end block and the body of the nozzle are fixedly secured together with the sealing surface on the end block in flush sealing contiguous relation to a flat sealing surface on the nozzle body so that a mastic passage and water passages in the end block may respectively sealingly communicate with a mastic passage and water passages in the nozzle body at the sealing surfaces. The mastic passage from the hose assembly to the nozzle outlet is thus totally internal and totally insulated so as to preclude the formation of cold plugs of mastic material during system shut down.

  • Patent number: 5312016
Abstract: A mastic control system for delivering a mastic material to a surface in a precisely controlled manner. The system includes a mastic pump, a regulator receiving the mastic from the pump, a nozzle receiving the mastic from the regulator, a transducer sensing the pressure of the mastic flowing through the nozzle, a comparator comparing a signal from the transducer and a command signal corresponding to a desired mastic pressure and operative to generate a control signal which is constantly adjusted in response to a sensed difference between the transducer signal and the command signal, and an air valve receiving the control signal and operative to selectively adjust a poppet valve of the regulator in a manner to adjust the delivery of the mastic to the nozzle in compensation for the sensed departure of the mastic pressure in the nozzle from the pressure value dictated by the command signal.

  • Patent number: 4754639
Abstract: Apparatus for evaluating physical properties of suspensions, particularly the tendency of the solid and fluid portions of a suspension to separate under pressure. The apparatus comprises a pressure vessel having an input port, a bleeder port and a pressure measuring port. A piston is slideably mounted within the pressure vessel and has a head portion which is exposed through a retainer ring for contact by the force applying apparatus. Depending upon the design of the piston, the apparatus may be used either for the separation test described above or for a density evaluation test.

  • Patent number: 4632281
Abstract: A positive displacement pump type fluid dispensing system for viscous fluids in upright-open ended cylindrical containers. The system comprises a base adapted to receive and substantially center the container, a ram plate which is carried by a vertical elevator system to be thrust into the container to apply pressure to the fluid therein and a system of one or more air-operated positive displacement pumps which act through the ram plate to move fluid from the container. The ram plate is loosely mounted on the depending support structure so as to be displaceable relative to the support structure and the base and the container to accommodate axial misalignments. An edge seal having a cam surface on the edge of the ram plate assists in the alignment function and also provides a fluid pressure seal. Gravity operated valves are mounted on the ram plate to admit air to the container when the ram plate is withdrawn.
