Patents Assigned to Jos. Zimmermann GmbH & Co. KG
  • Patent number: 5927219
Abstract: An improved sinker and tufting tool module combination. The sinker, especially a needle sinker, is provided with a horizontally extending groove and a threaded bore. The tufting tool module, especially a needle module, has tools secured to a lower edge thereof and is provided with a through bore for receiving a securing screw. The module has a first, sinker facing surface and on that surface, there is provided a moulding which extends perpendicularly from that surface and engages the groove in the sinker. The module is supported on the sinker so that it can be pivoted about an axis running in the longitudinal direction of the sinker. Devices are provided for locking the module to the sinker in a desired angular position. By this arrangement, the position of the module can be adjusted, slightly, so that it may be precisely adapted to prevailing conditions.

  • Patent number: 5860373
Abstract: In a module with tufting tools, especially needles the tufting tools are cast with one end in a plate-shaped base The length of the base corresponds to a multiple of the center distance of the cast-in tufting tools. The base has at least one opening which is in the form of a slot running perpendicular to the locating strip(s), which is open to the upper edge of the base. The base can be of symmetrical design and have a locating strip both at its front and at its rear locating face, serving to precisely position the module on a bar. The module and thus also the tufting tools cast into it can thus be used in two different rotational positions.

  • Patent number: 5738027
Abstract: A tufting process is provided whereby one pile length is cut from a pile material which is to be joined to a backing material by means of a cutting edge after the formation of each loop. Provision is also made for the cutting process to be effected by means of the vibrational cutting movement of a cutting edge, in particular with the aim of improving the cut and reducing wear. In order to implement such a process, a tufting device is provided which incorporates a row of side by side loopers. The loopers move to-and-fro for the purpose of looping the pile material. Each looper includes a base installed in a looper block. A shaft extends from the block and has a nose for collecting the yarn on its front end. The shaft further incorporates a cutting edge configured so as to perform the cutting process. Each looper is adapted to be coupled with a vibrating drive which superimposes a vibrational motion on top of the to-and-fro motion.

  • Patent number: 5445335
Abstract: A coil carrier compressible in axial direction, for the heat and wet treatment of threads and yarns, with a cylindrical or fruits-shaped winding surface, incorporates carrier rings (1;26) whose cross-sections are tapered radially outwards, and which are configured coaxially to one another. Neighbouring carrier rings (1;26) are joined together by struts (9;16;27). Facing limiting stops (11,12;20;28;29) are provided on the facing surfaces of neighbouring carrier rings (1;26), whereby the faces (13,14;21) of these limiting stops are oriented in radial direction normal to the axis of the coil carrier. The faces (13, 14;21) interlock directly or, alternatively, each face acts together with one functional surface (18,19) of an intermediate element (17) installed between the limiting stops. (FIG.

  • Patent number: 5158028
Abstract: A module with tufting tools, in particular needles, in which the tools (2) are cast in a basic body (1) the length of which is equal to a multiple of the mean distance between the tufting tools (2) cast into the basis body, is provided on its rear face (3), which can be attached to a bar, with a bearing ridge (5) and recesses and on its front face (4) with a receiving shoulder (7) and projections. The module is traversed lengthwise, from the rear face (3) to the front face (4), by an elongated hole (9). The recesses on the rear face (3) are formed by the spaces between a countersunk row (6), of teeth (10) which are identical and equidistant from each other and have straight flanks. The projections on the front side are formed by a projecting row of teeth (8), the teeth (12) and the spaces (13) between the teeth of the row of teeth (8) match the spaces (11 ) and the teeth (10), respectively, of the row of teeth (6).
